This is the problem, the AI would continuously modify sentences, names and terms as it deems most appropriate from time to time. A mess.
For a more immersive experience in the game, a basic translation of the descriptive content (information window, mission briefings, etc.) would be more useful, but given the amount of work I dont think it will ever be done.
Getting a client translated is not, by itself, bad in any way. But your insistence that this should be done by AI is retarded to put it mildly. Either this should be done properly, or not done at all. If you want it so much, give some Italian with good English skills the work and itāll turn out better than anything Artificial Idiot will spit out.
But it is my impression that localization tends to create ābubblesā of players who interact with the others in the game on a very limited basis. They have no need to make themselves understood nor understand others if the game is in their native language. These guys will tend to take part in activities that donāt require socialization with others, especially with people who donāt speak their native language. In turn this will tend to isolate them even more. I donāt really think thatās a positive direction to head towards.
Maybe people who donāt speak English so well should see this as an opportunity to learn a new language or improve their skills on English. I know my adult friends always quote they have no time to learn a new language, even though in theory they would like to do it. But they have all the time in the world to sit behind a computer screen! This is one way to do it!
