Vanguard and the fundamental issue with it

Fair enough, that does sound accurate. Regardless, the amount of investment was fairly low, so the ability for people to even buy plex from the in game market and join in was going to skew the results.

Right, but in order to access the test, you have to have Omega. The point I was making is it was cheaper to access it last test. Which means, the numbers will likely be much lower than they would be otherwise. And that’s on top of a likely drop purely from the fact that nothing from the player’s perspective has changed (just bug crushing and back end stuff.)

I’m gonna have to nip this blind optimism in the bud. Go and do a bit of research into contemporary game development.

You are not going to get an EVE version of Planetside 2. What you see today is largely what you’re going to get, which is a ghetto space version of The Day Before. They’re not going to magically restructure the game’s foundation in a year or two to turn it into something entirely different. The game is very obviously made to function as a drop-shooter with a fairly limited number of players active at a time in each instance. This is not going to be an MMO shooter.

I agree that this game mode, is probably going to be what it is, though, potentially with more content (such as mining.) But this is just a crashed ship, which is something CCP mentioned was going to be an option (exploration / salvage of crashed EVE ships.)

Beyond that, we’re at least a year out from launch, probably more as the roadmap for the entire year speaks on vanguard testing. (One potential target date is fanfest, but that might just be a closed beta.)

Will it ever be on the scale of planetside? That’s probably a bit ambitious, but I could certainly see some territory control (sov) game modes making use of planetside style mechanics.

We likely aren’t going to be getting 100’s of players in the same environment, as the game engine wont allow for it, but we will have access to mmo style systems, such as the fitting window (which is one of the things listed for testing.)

The mmo part of the game, will be how it connects to EVE. We’ll see how the implementation plays out.

Vanguard could be so much more as an simple FPS extraction Shooter, which most of the players once they tried it, quit.

Better is, fly with your ship to a Planet land on it ( similar to docking on a station for example, or with a nice cut scene ) and run arround on the Planet with the same Char you use for EvE.
Exploring, gather resourcces, Fight PvE/PvP, maybe even build a Base or House.
You can add skills to learn for Ground Stuff, the same Way you do for Space.
This is something i want. ( and i am sure many other Players ).

After this is done, make some nice apartments to rent / buy in station similar what GTA 5 Online has.

Want a window next to Jita undock and watch the traffic / ships outside in real time.
Add crafting Furnitures for Base/Home on Planet and Apartment in Stations.

I have so much more Ideas
