Vanguard

Vanguard might get more attention and more subs if structure building is implemented.

There are some gamers who love to build structures in a game more than fight.

How Vanguard would work is simple.

You have two factions. Within the two factions you have the ability to choose one the four playable races.

Each side of the map starts out with 25 grid squares with up to three starting locations or no locations at all.

Each starting location would have a certain number of starting resources that would include basic infantry weapons and ammo, different types of suits, and building tools.

The builders would improve their factions territory while getting points towards upgrades.
Players would have to build factories to produce items to keep their faction going. Basically the same process used by alliances to keep their alliance going. No skills to learn. Just gotta grind for points. Every point earned goes into a pool to the assigned starting location. Grinding for location points is done by building, digging trenches and other basic infantry structures, transporting resources here and there, getting kills, etc. A location point is earned every 10 minutes for a total of 6 location points per player per hour on top of other points earned.

Players have to keep a certain number of points in a location to keep it active. If a location consumes all points without resupply, the location goes inactive. Factories, AI facilities, ect. go offline and are not able to be used until location points are supplied. The enemy faction however is still able to loot and destroy the other factions locations or capture the enemy location.
Resource harvesting would be similar to resource harvesting in space but planet based.

The idea is basically taking Planetary Infrastructure and adding it to Vanguard. The players would be totally responsible for all aspects involving the upkeep of their PI.

Each war would last 60 days. Whichever faction has the most grid squares at the end of 60 days wins the war.

After the war ends, a new map based on the terrain from Eve Online planets is generated and the war resumes.

If they give Vanguard a Rust-like game mode, I might actually play it. +1 on this suggestion.

Vanguard Engineer!

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what Vanguard is (admittedly, I haven’t played the preview), but isn’t the game an extraction shooter? As in like, drop onto a map, achieve one or more objectives, and get out before you die? I thought it was more match-based and temporal, not a persistent world instance where one would build things? That sounds more like Frontier.

Again, maybe I’ve misunderstood the concept.

In Vanguard, you always die. Painfully and horribly…

Basically, like Rust but with a Vanguard them. Some areas would have resource extractors already in place to collect the necessary resources to build guns, ammo, and other necessities of Vanguard.

Tribes was a lot of fun.

CCP/FC doesn’t fully know what the game will be., but they’re going for the EVE Online approach, starting with a basic game mode, then adding features.

The reason they’re starting with extraction gameplay, is because that’s the core experience of an MMO. Go do activity, gain loot, repeat.
