Vastly more productive High-Sec Ganking thread

I’ve lived in high-sec for my entire 14-year EVE career. I’ve been ganked, I’ve lost everything, and I’ve seen it all. But here’s the real issue: the rewards in high-sec have almost no real value when you look at the risk-to-reward ratio regarding ganking.

Ganking in high-sec is a constant, and that’s not going to change. But while the risks are everywhere, the rewards stay bottom-tier. Meanwhile, the rewards in Null and Low-sec are arguably too high for the safety nets they often have, while high-sec income is kept artificially low. If we are forced to deal with more productive ganking and new tech like Breacher pods, then high-sec rewards need to go up to match that reality. Right now, the balance is just broken. > just waiting for the salty mineral en moral knights and bully responce.

It’s like having an endless, Groundhog Day, type discussion to discuss whether an apple is a banana.

Ganking threads are churned out by the same factory that used to produce Trabants under some five year pig iron plan.

We can tell this isn’t true because if it were true, people would simply leave high sec. They stay there because the risk-reward remains attractive.

Same story, here. If you actually believed this, you would just go avail yourself of those safety nets.

Those safety nets aren’t inherent; they’re created and maintained by players. Players need to show up and expend effort to make them work. You can do the same thing in high sec; you lot just always get hung up on the “make an effort” part. You want the effort to be made for you.

Probably because most people’s first toe dipping into low sec results in them landing in a gate camp, or being otherwise hunted down by much more experienced players. So it’s either make 20m isk an hour in high sec, or go to null in one of the mega blocs.

That.
Massmultiboxing Iceminers, L4/Burner-Blitzers, Abyssalrunners and Traders print billions over billions ins HS with close to zero risk if they just gather some knowledge about the mechanics and stick to some pretty easy rules.

I live in a Wormhole and still 90% of my money comes from HS acitvities, because they are repeatable endlessly, do not require much preparation and can be done solo at any time I want.

People claiming HS has too little rewards have absolutely no idea how to play this game, HS is incredibly lucrative if you know what you are doing, with the maximum in convenience on top of it. In my book, HS income should be nerfed quite a bit at the top end (no huge static ice belts, no T5/T6 Abyssals, no Burners. 25% CONCORD Tax on all bounties).

This is called a false dichotomy. You can go make 200-300m an hour blitzing burners or doing abyssals. You can learn that if you simply don’t enter low sec through one of the most heavily trafficked gates, it’s unlikely to be camped. You can join eve-uni and get help learning those things. You can go to wormhole space; I watched a little pack of ventures huff gas in a wormhole the other day basically from downtime to downtime without hassle.

There’s a reason you rely on bluntly dishonest approaches to the discussion like, “You can only do this ■■■■ thing or that ■■■■ thing, there are no other options.”

Remove/rework Homefronts. Make it so you can only enter them like three times a day or something. They seems to be run primarily by botters/boxers.

Incursions made to only spawn in low sec and (border?) null.

I think security status should be abolished. A temp suspect flag is fine in my opinion.

I also think that ganking should be easier. It’s too easy to out tank a ganker. I don’t have any sense of danger watching local like I did in my first Skiff as I was first training up shield skills.

Concord arrives too quickly.

Still too safe. There should be a base 10% chance for your ship to explode when you undock. To help the care bears get used to the idea of losing their precious pixels. Chance is modified by security rating. -10 would reduced it to zero, and positive standings would increase it. Let’s really get those gears of industry turning with tons of destruction!

Nah. I want to see an opponent. Having my ship spontaneously explode is not fun.

It only explodes if you’re a farmer. Real Eve players would quickly hit -10 and reap the benefits of such.

Glen is right. If you fit your ship properly, you are pretty much ungankable. You don’t even have to watch local or be at your keyboard.

All structures go boom in null

They’re obviously not even finishing their donut before they roll out; it’s completely unrealistic. They should show up two hours after the fact, collect a victim statement, and put it with the others in the cold case file.

I like these kind of ideas. It would be great if ships just malfunctioned. Imagine flying into Jita and a malfunction occurs. You have just enough time to type in local chat “COMING IN HOT” before crashing into jita, destroying your ship and podding you. And maybe shutting down Jita for a couple of hours for repairs. Players can’t dock or leave. The game needs more chaos. Pirates attacking jump gates, shutting them down for a while, forcing commerce routes through low sec, etc….

Yeah, because i read the rage posts and enjoy them, but I am always left wondering what exactly do those people feel the punishment should be? There’s a semi-recent thread about there is no risk to ganking, and I simply wish to understand those folks.

If you get high enough standings with the pirate FW factions you should be able to call in an interdiction on a highsec gate, knocking it out for an hour and reducing the security status for the duration. You should be able to bring capitals into these systems. This would allow pirates to conduct raids on traffic through Uedama using Lancer dreads, which would make these ships much more fun to fly.

To do that, you’d have to add collision damage which would effectively kill bumping. That would change this game forever. I’d be in favor of that. I hate bumping. Buy a warp disrupter, you cheapskate!
