Vastly more productive High-Sec Ganking thread

Dynamic CONCORD timers are too complex and the mechanic will stay unknown to many players, along with hundreds of other little mechanics buried in 20+ years of features, some of them even forgotten by CCP. Both sides will be unhappy with this. Not really a good game design.

I had better hopes of EVE player cognitive capabilities, but even if somehow dynamic CONCORD timers are too complex my suggestion at least allows players an easy answer to those who complain about getting ganked: “have you considered bribing CONCORD?”

It’s not about player’s cognitive capabilities, it’s about game design. If you ask a random group of players if there is a mechanic that controls CONCORD response time based on the security status of the system, there will be a decent percentage of those who think there isn’t. CCP is not the best at communicating features and making them visible on screen.

Here’s a list of actions that can change the outcome:

  • ability to move away
  • ability to warp
  • ability to tank
  • ability to shoot back
  • ability to perform e-war

All of these actions are clear to the player from the moment they start the game, but many of them are either unavailable for certain types of ships or are completely useless in a context of a gank. The answer should be somewhere in there, and it needs to be interactive (not passive) in order to eliminate one of the the biggest complaints - that it’s not a fight… and to avoid getting away while AFK.

It would be better to have maybe a 1% chance of going suspect. That would actually introduce hundreds of suspects in highsec.

I would also eliminate status loss in lowsec.

I have always said they should add some scripted missions.

  1. The agent asks you to mine some ore, but he warns you there are some pirates selling “suspicious mining permits”. He says you can buy one, and maybe they won’t gank you. If you don’t buy one, NPCs gank you and laugh at you. If you do buy one, NPCs gank you and laugh at you.

  2. The agent asks you to mine some ore, but when you get there some other NPC miner is already there and he mines out the last rock as you warp in. You go back to the agent and he says, “You know, I think I have just the ship for this…” He gives you a Catalyst (or a Coercer!) and tells you that you can go out there and gank that Venture, to get the ore you need. If you shoot the miner, he gives you TWICE the isk you paid earlier for a mining permit - doubling your isk and begging you not to make fun of him.

That claim is a complete nonsense and you know it. You are using it only to falsely present it as a skill issue, which is only partially true in very specific situations.

Actually, it’s true.

Fit your ship to be tanky, and nobody is going to waste time on you. Actually try being at your keyboard and taking basic precautions, and you can easily avoid anyone who does. It’s absurdly easy to avoid ganks - just ask @Glenduil - he got so bored of not being ganked that he started ganking.

Here is a list of counterplays to ganking:

Note #4: fit your ship

A lot of content in highsec is designed for active tanked ships, and your solution is to brick tank it. Only a confirmation that there is a game design issue.

Why don’t you try creating a fleet?

For what? For hisghec content designed for solo players or personal logistics? My claim that there is a game design issue still stands. You’ve only reinforced it by providing another design flaw.

Besides, the targets are not only active tanked ships, but ships that are not designed to defend themselves, either with EHP, mobility or e-war.

What makes you think any of it is designed for solo players or for active tanked ships? That’s just how YOU approach it, because you are greedy and want to get done fast. My job is to hunt and kill people who have that attitude.

That’s called balance.

You really haven’t done anything except ganking in this game, have you? If you did the answer would be obvious.

There is no ship which isn’t designed to defend itself. Whether that be fitting a repper to your maller, or a remote shield booster to your orca so it can keep the hulks alive, or triple webs and a sensor booster on a hyena to web your freighter into warp immediately.

I also offer Jita style isk doubling at home in Amarr!

lol what an absurd comment, as if someone with that many character slots and time hasn’t done everything this game has to offer. She blogs, shits posts on the forums, ganks morons, and still has probably what I’m guessing to be up to 30 extra characters with nothing to do mind you after they all have a like 14 day skill plan trained. That said some variance or a slight change up might be nice, Aiko hasn’t ganked any of my toons in the last few years at least, and I just think she doesn’t like me anymore.

What you are really doing is trying to steer the discussion away from points where you get cornered and don’t have any real or constructive answers. So, I’m going to break that cycle.

I like this idea except for the sec status makes CONCORD show up faster. That seems like it would introduce a large sec status grind to unlock effective hauling. The random effect is cool though.

I could say the same to you!

A lot of content in high sec for active tank? LOL what? A lot of it for passive tank and rarely for active.

You maybe prefer to use wrong ships and fits for what you are doing.
