What they do is make changes based on feedback and player desire - in this case, there was a significant desire to buff marauders and get them back into space as the premiere subcap class. They did that. At the same time, they knew going in that these were likely going to be a bit overpowered, but instead of putting something in that wouldnāt make the ships that viable for fear of them being overpowered, they accepted theyād be overpowered for a while knowing they could reduce things later on. This is what iteration is - itās what players have asked for repeatedly over the years.
In the end, this change isnāt suddenly going to stop people from flying marauders and nobody who has trained or skilled into one in the two months since the last update is suddenly flying a useless ship.
Not something you can really drop at the feet of that change, in all fairness.

The stations have more definition. The bubbles look more defined and I like them.
The buffs were ok, and you are right, when the buffs for the ship came out I was a bit skeptical about if they were needed. They did feel a bit over the top.
The nerf that came basically kneecapped the ship class entirely.
Marauders should no longer be thought of as āMini-dreadsā They no longer have that capability.
Instead marauders are now ships that excel in dealing damage out past 70km.
The repair and damage application bonuses are now just a crutch that exists because the marauder has to immobilize itself to deal decent damage at that that range.
If you want a cheaper version of the ship for close range combat look no further than the Maelstrom and Hyperion Battleships.
Lets do the same for dreads then while we are at it then.
The first patchnotes will read:
- Siege Module will now grant Immunity to capacitor warfare while active
When pilot buy their skill injectors and plex their accounts to buy dreads we can then nerf it with:
- Dreads can only used high angle guns. Regular capital weapons are being redefined as supercapital sized weapons and as such will now only fit on titans.

You removed the immunity but kept the downside.
for technical reasons (mostly because battleship stats suck when dealing with all EWAR or rather the consequences of EWAR) a 50% reduction in effects only gives about a ~10% resistance in general. I wish I had a graph here but this can also be inverted. A 90% reduction in EWAR only translates to ~50% resistance to ewar. Thats ECM immunity was the only stat that made sense there.

After a hundred or so jumps in the southwest and northeast of the map, and hanging out with a friend who loves to go mining for 4 hours (while gossiping our heads off) I must admit I like the upgraded visuals. Itās a lot better than what was first proposed on the test server, better balanced, and I even have the impression the glare is reduced. Itās also possible that my eyesight has dropped since test server introduction and final release. Any way, my thanks to the devs and artists for having taken the test server feedback into account !
As with all other stuff related to cloaking Iām very interested in the new covert cyno deployable. The bpo is already in ME research, tyvm, and the planets are doing their thing too.
However, dear devs, would you consider making the fleet jump option on the blops a grantable role in the fleet that is by default OFF ? Yes, spies have already fleet jumped blops fleets into a trap, and that is a bit too easy of a gameplay without any counterplay.

The marauder changes, well, itās not good to get kids acquainted with lots of candy and then try to tell them itās not good to eat candy. I understand the change was necessary for some overpowered pvp aspect, but the effect on pve - the main use of these ships - is equally important. Turret fitted marauders already have very poor tracking, especially the paladin that has only 4 mids and does require those mids to mitigate some of the cap penalty introduced via your previous buff to bastion mode, so tracking aids are a no go. Neuting marauders was already a viable attack mode, now you added the full ewar spectrum to it, because you wanted to fix one singular problem with one marauder hull ? Baaaad.
very off topic here, but this @Brisc_Rubal bashing that flares up every time the man posts and communicates with the community is getting slightly annoying. As a player like the rest of us he is entitled to his opinions. As a CSM representative he will take any concerns about the game you may have to CCP, regardless of his own opinions unless someone has proof of the opposite. Thatās what a true CSM rep does, and that is what he stands for.

Just wanted to add here that my corp is loving the graphics so far. And the changes to the Vargur will definitely make ESS fights more fun.
But please maybe slow down the buffs to all my favorite cloaky ships! I canāt decide what to fly!!

These spherical effects became too ugly too watch, like cheap shadow occlusion thatās be overlooked as a result when the update is deployed. I can kind of understand why some ppl also feel the bubbles visuals are downgraded, now theyāve only so far seen the bubbles from afar, not sure how it would be with lots of geometries inside. or whether it only affects LCOsā¦but that ought to be something Iād like to see fixedā¦
Then give us REAL playersā representatives, not morons on an ego trip.
