I’m not sure you can blame all of EVE’s woes solely on the introduction of PLEX.
They still do. I am running one myself. NWN1 got an Enhanced Edition few years back which also thanks to android support, increased playerbase a bit.
they dont have ability to write story
Please don’t put words in my mouth.
I wrote that PLEXes were the trigger for this decline as early as 2008.
Added to this were the erratic nerfs to EVE Online, regularly orchestrated without warning by CCP to support their business plan, disregarding the players; the pattern is actually very simple to understand:
nerfs => kills and destruction => PLEXs => money for CCP
Their propaganda and influence-peddling communication in favor of destruction and death has always been proof of this. It’s now ingrained in their strategic DNA as a publishing company, which was definitely not the case between 2003 and 2007.
Furthermore, there were the skill point injectors, which ultimately undermined the morale of all the players who had respected the original rules of EVE Online for years. I don’t need to provide a synopsis on this point, as it’s so obvious:
injectors => PLEXs => money for CCP
Finally, there are the alts, which CCP constantly encourages, notably with its training plans for multiple characters. This is utter nonsense, as it’s now completely unclear who you can safely talk to in-game: is it a single character or an alt that’s both abusive and intrusive? But here again, the synopsis is perfectly clear:
alts => PLEXs => money for CCP
By proceeding step by step in this way, CCP has definitively screwed over its long-time players who had respected the rules of the game for years, dedicating an almost endless amount of time to it.
CCP has simply turned its back on its long-time players in favor of players who are far more vulnerable and prone to impulsive spending, which has had significant consequences since 2008; but let’s move on from that, as it now falls solely under the responsibility of our legislators…
I know I already wrote this in vain, right here on this forum a few years ago. The only CCP game related to EVE whose rules remain unchanged is EVE Conquests. It’s the only game with which the now-defunct CCP could never betray its players, even today!
Understanding this is understanding the heart of the problem, which also applies to other ongoing fiascos in the gaming industry, such as Blizzard’s ill-fated World of Warcraft!
The conclusion to all this? I already wrote it earlier in this thread! Knowing how to invest is one thing, but it’s not everything! The key is knowing how to innovate in order to constantly amaze your players without ever betraying them!
Player One said: “Some read War and Peace and see only a banal adventure. Others read the wrapper of chewing gum and unlock the secrets of the universe.”
A word to the wise… To Hilmar…
Food for thought…
You went into great detail on how PLEX led to the downfall of EVE (I’m just paraphrasing what you said).
Ah! Okay! My mistake, I misread you…
I only briefly tried EVE in the early 00’s - but never stuck with it. I returned in 2012 - just in time for peak-player EVE.
The company is not defunct. They changed their name. It’s called ‘Fenris’ now, or ‘FC’ if the whole word is too much for you to type. Calling them ‘defunct’ is ridiculous.
The cost of Carrier construction has been brought down significantly. The reduction represents around 1 billion ISK per hull at time of writing. At this new price point, these ships will be somewhere between a Marauder and a Dreadnought. This allows a player to make a more meaningful choice when selecting their ship.
Except don’t fighters still suck?
Perhaps fighters are fine and it’s you who sucks?
Sure, if that’s what you really believe…
Not seeing any of these in the NES (from the June 19 patch notes):
• New Pride of the Federation SKINs added to the NES
• New Gallente Pilot Expert System has been permanently added and is available in the NES
• New Federation Day Celebration Crate added, claim it in NES before 23:59 UTC, 26 June 2026
Addendum: Seems they’re there now. Maybe only available when docked?
so the last 2 weeks have been great(sarcasm) i spent over 300$ to get 3 mul ze tah monestaries giving me a grand total of maybe 10 million is for the 3 sites, maybe another 10 million from the one data site i found, CCP or what ever the losers are calling themselves have to address the loser character farmers who ruin eve.
I keep looking for Achievements is “Personal” menu. It just feels natural. Why Paragon?
When will the new ships get their Evermark emblems?
I have them already for the Algos and Dragoon navy
Can’t wait to lose more money providing my I.D. for KYC to some scummy crypto exchange risking Identity theft to buy crypto currency and transfer it for an exorbitant transfer fee for in game transactions then the necessity to purchase an overpriced crypto tax software program to track the monetary losses and additional tax’s payable to my Government for any perceived capital gains.
Sounds Like a great Idea.
-SK- “Nope, nothing wrong here”
I have no problem with plex. Better CCP get the $$$ than rmt’ers like in my day.
I have no problem with skill injectors except they should have much more of a limit put on them just like alphas, I guess. Train into a bs and then cut them off as it seems to be a good way to abuse the system after that level? I’m torn between the idea that a new player could never catch up and the abuse of the system it seems…
