Don’t bully mee!

Man, this is going to be such a boring summer…

I’ll have to go back to hitting on Zaera.

It will still show the numerical score. No way to turn that off. And it’s completely useless. As if EVE was suddenly a race to whoever has the highest achievement score in the game. It’s antithetical to the open-world sandbox that this game is.

Great! Another useless annoying tooltip popup added to the game I take it? No way to turn these off either (I know you can delay them, but that’s not good enough).

Having said that, I know why it’s there – gotta attract those 16-year-olds to play this game somehow.

Which is separate from the titles I was responding too. I don’t care for the number either way, just like play made titles, I simply just ignore it. Plenty of open-world sandboxes have achievements, I would not call it antithetical.

Description tab may feel ‘‘purposeless’’, but it is an important aspect from lore perspective. There is barely any information in-game itself when it comes to lore, that tab is one of the few sources to explain what the bloodlines mean in broad terms. It is also the only place in the game where you can find out which race another character is from. If they removed the tab, I suspect the bloodline info would be added to where the achievement titles currently are at.

There are people who are into the lore aspect of the game, and it would be unfair if their content was removed from the game.

I’m getting a lot of audio clipping (cuts out, pops, then cuts back in) whenever undocking with more than one client active.

I get that (I’m into the lore myself), but the tab could be replaced with a field or label that links to an info page about the race or bloodline. It seems needlessly redundant for such a description tab to be on the info page of every single character who shares a particular bloodline. They could even stick race and bloodline links on the bio tab, above the freeform field. I think that would make more sense.

That said, during the last Fanfest, there was a panel called “Evolving Empires: Four Sides to Every Story,” featuring FC Burger, FC Diegetic, and FC Jayess. I can’t find a recording of it, but if I recall correctly, FC Burger mentioned that at some point, FC would like to restructure the character creation process to make Empire selection something that happens later on (presumably, during the onboarding in Exordium). I don’t know what that will mean for the longevity of immutable traits like race and bloodline. It could be they do away with the concepts altogether.

EDIT: Found it.

EVE still does the ridiculous glow stuff. This was in an Onslaught mission pocket

If it weren’t a bug, that would be a cool shot. It looks like you’re close-orbiting a star.

I thought they were orbiting a star?

He said it was a mission pocket.

While I understand the goal of encouraging diverse activities, the current system has a drawback — if my preferred activity (e.g., mission running) isn’t available, I’m forced into less enjoyable alternatives just to contribute. My suggestion: ensure at least one activity of each type is always available within each campaign, while varying the systems in which those activities can be completed. I know I could just switch up the campaigns and do it that way but as a faction warfare player I prefer to help my own side exclusively. Also much more easier than to go 20 jumps away just so I can do my preferred activity.

Today I had a choice (Caldari) of finding one of two officer rats in high-sec.

I find this discussion rather telling. Saw World of Warcraft mentioned several times as being irrelevant these days. Reminds me of this image a more-experienced player shared with me as I started my Eve journey about a year ago.

Only familiar with WoW and Eve. Never heard of the other two. Played WoW for a couple of years until a new expansion release in 2008. Had grinded to max level and had a decent set of armor. The expansion meant starting another grind. Went from active player to never again in frustration.

The MMO populations website has some interesting numbers. World of Warcraft has 5k players, EverQuest has 4k, and shocked that EverQuest II still exists at nearly 3k. Eve Online has them beat by a fair amount at 30k, but nothing like Roblox at 40M.

Why is this comparison relevant to this discussion?

Eve Online peaked at 60k members years ago. Running over a decade around half that. To me, the more telling statistic is the number of new characters added daily. Eve has a proven track record of new players. Roughly 2500 additions daily starting in late 2010. Why does that not translate into player growth?

In the image above, there is an overhanging cliff, a graveyard, and a bulldozer on the Eve learning curve. Decades later, that image still describes this game accurately. The lack of new players supporting our fleets, corporations, and alliances harms our game enjoyment. CCP lost how many customers during their tenure? This is the first major game update under the Fenris name. How did it go? As of today, the weekly trend is -35.7%. Feedback shows their re-imagined new-player experience matches with the historical old-player experience: poorly developed and of limited value.

I came here to give my feedback regarding my experience in Exordium as a new character. Have little to add to what has already been shared. On day one, I hit the Opportunities button to get my daily 10k SP’s. Mining and jumps. Where to mine? Undock and go to the belt. Wrong. Try a different system. Again, no belt. Hit “The Agency” and look for the nearest asteroid belt. Nearest one is 4 jumps away outside Exordium. Even got a warning on leaving and entering Exordium. No surprise. The new game region for new pilots is not like the rest of the game. Nope. New content, new rules.

So, now the player base is segregated into newcomers, High-Security, Low-Security, Null-Space, Wormhole, and Pochven. Cannot have players interacting outside their bubbles. They might find something else entertaining for a while. We all get bored of daily grinds.

Either your reading capability is way off, or that site’s numbers are even more full of bullcrap than usual. WoW only has 5,000 players? WoW still has millions even with their dropoffs. ROFLMAO Both EQ and EQ2 still has over a hundred thousand players each via Daybreak’s own investor reports. WoW, Elder scrolls Online, and Final Fantasy XIV are the literal Top 3 Juggernauts of the genre. EvE has never in its entire lifespan had WoW’s numbers even if you put every single person who has ever even installed EvE against just one year of WoW at random. I want some of whatever it is you’re smoking.

Oh, and to explain your little graph to you: First, it’s a graph representing the “leveling curve” of the game, not a population count. Second, EvE: The Second Genesis was EvE’s original name at release in 2003. “POTBS” was Pirates of the Burning Sea , and LOTR Online is Lord of the Rings Online ( which still has more players than EQ/EQ2 ), EvE never had more players than any of those, not even PotBS which was a janky crapshow. Even at it’s highest counts, EvE has always been niche. Not a bad thing at all, just reality.
