@Gloria_Exercitus During the pandemic, I ran the largest guild in the history of a certain WoW server until we became a top ten guild. Through the experience, I learned a lesson about the community of long-term gamers most of us happen to be. I used to be one of those people who preached that recruitment was the lifeblood of a guild due to natural attrition rates.
We focused heavily on that ideology of constantly replacing the old with new. After I left the game, I watched that same group of men stay together for years until they became the number 2 of all time on that server without me. It was eye-opening because I was the guy who institutionalized it by telling others not to invest too deeply and to plan out replacements.
Long term gaymers are here to stay if you maintain respect for their time.
“A limit plays absolutely zero role in their decision, because they actively search for a single (or two) totally new groups. They don’t throw wars around and need multiple war slots. They simply declare on one that looks like very inexperienced but daily active and begin to farm their members who have no knowledge about how combat even works. Then they camp them in, kill whatever undocks and continue that until the newbro corp realizes they better stay docked” -Syzygium
Hmmm… this is an issue that needs a new solution. Hopefully someone has an idea because atm I am too high…
My first thought would be to force an option to surrender for a payoff amount which ends in a peace period of two weeks. The maximum surrender amount being dependent on corp size and assets in space. Just an idea to get started. Dont argue against it too hard.
You can’t? You don’t need to. You do it like in the real world, you give the package to a network of subcontractors.
And if you need to move something yourself, you move it with using scouts, unpredictable routes, unpredictable times, WH shortcuts (yeah, even Freighters can use XL-WHs in Lowsec). Jumpfreighters. What do you think how large entities outside of HS move large hauling volume in areas where CONCORD doesn’t even exist? They get creative.
Would the transportation fee increase? Sure! But thats a good thing. Transportation right now in EVE is ridiculously cheap. Higher costs for moving stuff around is overall a huge benefit for the game. It strengtens local industries, makes it harder to establish monopolies, creates stronger markets outside Jita and enables trading outposts at the edges of HS to compete better against main trade hubs.
And last but not least, you can leave a bunch of Hauler Pilots in NPC corps, which aren’t wardeccable by default.
But, to shorten all this: I am not even wanting everyone being wardeccable as said multiple times. The point was just made to refute the claim that it would be impossible to move large quantities of cargo from A to B while being wardeccable. It’s not. It’s just more difficult, more risky and more effort. And of course more costly for the customer. But I consider all of those things good for the game.

^^^These are working sliders to show values for feedback.^^^
Simply slide the top two from left to right.
I spent many hours working on this to incorporate as many ideas as I could into a focused format. It is a baseline to gather thoughts. Please move around the sliders and read the rules below them to get a feel for the initial format, then let me know what you think. This is a work in progress and only designed to show values and introduce new mechanics, such as menu-based surrender amounts with automatic peace periods.
Automated surrender: Available through the in-game system for the entire time the war is active. The system processes the surrender. Using “Surrender” ends the war and starts a 4-week mandatory peace period. The “Attacker” declares war and the “Defender” would press “Surrender”.
Astrahus WaR HQs would only be required for additional sets of ten wars assigned per HQ after the first ten with no structure requirements. Owning a citadel would make any size corp war eligable.
NPC corps are war immune. Holding corps will not present any unfair issues after the war HQ is no longer an issue.
Additionally, POCO monopolies in highsec will lose ground when attacked on all fronts by local highsec residents. This does mean additionally that small corps will finally have a chance to own citadels without the 100% certain destruction by a blob. Instead, they will only have to contend with smaller, local issues outside of prime real estate ofc.
@Syzygium the issue you pointed out can no longer happen in the new system because the griefer would have to spend 1 billion just to allow the defender a month of peace instantly for 250m surrender.
Nice calculator… I don’t agree tho that wars on larger groups should be “free”. Not at all.
I see absolutely no reason why small groups have a basically free tool to remove a large group’s highsec privileges.
I generally don’t buy into that claim that they “seek PvP”. These small groups of 2-5 dudes wardeccing large alliances seek cheap kills they don’t have the balls to earn in null or lowsec where they would actually expose themselves to be attacked by others. What they are after are mainly Newbs of the big group they can kill without any danger or some careless Vet in his lonely Marauder or Freighter ignoring the war and then getting caught. Basically more or less assymmetrical warfare without any investment.
Nope. I find the lower threshold of needing a structure that can be destroyed as HQ + 500M (if it was up to me 1B minimum) as “investment” to get into wars totally adequate. If you are good and don’t pick the poorest targets, you will be able to profit. And if you can’t afford that, well, go back work on your financial background if you want to play the big boy’s games.
Yes, and we were debating making the tax rate the same for non-deccable PC corps, and how that might upset haulers.
I never claimed it was impossible, it clearly isn’t impossible, but it is much harder, and I think it will prove too costly to allow hauling to continue as a business, maybe I’m wrong and maybe the citizens of New Eden will all happily pay more for everything, everywhere, but making everyone wardeccable will change the game for haulers, and thus I assume at least some of them will be upset by the changes suggested.
Then we can be glad really nobody except a few people looking for easy kills is really pursuing that. CCP made this mistake once and I would be very surprised if they would repeat it. There will most likely be a lower threshold which will grant you war-immunity if you decide to stay below it. Can be size, can be “no structures”.. whatever the trigger is. And a pure hauling-corporaiton will probably make sure they do not cross this line.
No one said that everyone will be happy. But a stronger local industry that greatly profits from higher transportation costs (being able to produce and sell locally while traders are unable to match prices by just buying elsewhere and moving it there) is healthy for distributing economical power to more smaller local industrial groups and having it less concentrated in a handful of big tradehubs or production areas that can basically deliver everywhere for roughly the same price.
And what this game desperately needs is a higher amount of rivals competing in every aspect. Since Item prices only have a very small part being transportation costs, an increase might for most of them even barely noticable for the broad public end-customer.
And ? I mean…why shouldn’t it ? One of the biggest problems in EVE is that there is too much stuff anyway. It was the whole reason for austerity measures. Not enough stuff was being destroyed…whilst corps built up massive stocks. That goes against the whole ethos of the game as being dark dystopian carnage where people fight for ( limited ) resources.
At least Frontier seems to follow the golden old ways of not explaining anything and not giving the player tools or gameplay support of any kind. Not even stuff that you would consider “basic” from EVE Online.
I found the latest Rooks and Kings video very interesting…like how to come up with a method to scan something down if the game doesn’t provide you with a scanning system and no bookmarks either.
It comes down again to work with what you have, be creative and combine it in unforeseen ways to achieve something great. Something that is completely lost in todays theme park EVE with all the specialized roles, hulls and mechanics.
So let me get this straight… 30,000 member huge nullsec coalitions… Titans capitals all that stuff.
They can’t defend themselves against one single solo pilot? At what point do you feel a group is so large that they are then expected to defend against one single pilot… Just like a corporation of 10.
Why would a corporation of 10 members be expected to defend themselves yet a large coalition of 30,000 members would be immune from war?
Why would 30,000 members not be able to defend themselves when a corporation of 10 is expected to do so?
An organization such as brave United ( literally a nullsec derived entity based on exploits) feels it has the right to “hisec privileges” while a group of new players of 10 men who live in high SEC are expected to defend themselves or surrender? Has the entitlement really gone that far to your head? Why don’t our 10 new players living in high SEC have “nullsec privileges” of immunity from pvp?
I am going to need explanations for this so that I can attempt to write it into the system. But hopefully you guys realize how silly that is.
No, its exactly what EVE was originally described as being…as you’ll see in the EVE Online : Down The Rabbit Hole video with interviews with the original devs. It was never intended to be Teletubbies In Space…but instead a harsh, dystopian, sci-fi universe full of risk and danger.
Ironically, did you know… threatening legal action is a form of abusive harassment.
Also, on-topic… This topic’s proposed plan is to make war dec’s free against null blocks and allow for a month long of war. That still doesn’t stop capsuleers from jumping corp (WAR CORP 2) and just continuing the war on that front. Lengthening the timespan only allows more carnage to occur.
