War Cost Raised for The Rich Only

no, they just want you to pay 5$ to be at war for a week

That’s such a basic concept I still don’t believe you guys are discussing this.

The thread started because a nerd rage that is way too easily dismissed.

If the OP wants to discuss the topic seriously, he should start a thread decently, and mind this topic was discussed over the years, and this guy (quoted) was there in 2018, so from all experts in here, I only see one or two names that really have some context.

My last point is pretty simple, FC keeps getting feedback about this war dec for years, I checked it myself, with lots of old names (I used to read on forums) discussing it that are not present in here anymore, it’s clear to me they (FC) don’t care, they moved the price up totally on purpose.

Not sure rehashing the same ideas (I used the same term from a thread to help you out finding it) will make any difference, not in the sense I’m saying do not discuss, on the contrary, discuss until you are happy, but in the sense FC never cared, the topic is extensively discussed over the forums for years.

Cheers, it’s never personal, but sometimes I need to beat some sense into people, if any of you can’t tolerate me, well sorry I guess (like not really).

To the OP, you should start a thread with a decent title and a better angle if you want better opinions.

I’d rather type than to wake a baby, but starting a thread with my idea is fine.

I do however think my idea is a good starting point for a discussion, maybe not so much as starting point for a suggestion. So if you’re going to start a thread, let it be an open discussion for different view points, as I know I may have some point of view on wars, but I’m sure it’s not the only point of view so hopefully a discussion can improve the ideas further.

For example Syzygium’s remark above does make a good point that even goes against the first point I made about accessibility: there should be some starting cost to wars.

While I still think that wars should be accessible to players who are ready to wage war, it shouldn’t be so accessible that people can just start one for no effort, or could make multiple corporations on alts and start various wars to various enemies and bypass any suggested hard limits through parallel corporations and non-existing starting costs. Solving the HS wars may be harder than just the suggestions I made and would preferably have input from more players.

Because their solution didn’t actually fix anything. The issue of larger corps bashing smaller ones still exists…just with the extra requirement of a 600m ISK core plus station. And letting everyone be war immune…what kind of a solution is that in a dystopian PvP game ?

If you banned everything in EVE that was ‘unfair’…you’d reduce the game to Teletubbies In Space, and its already been headed that way for some years. What next ? No more lowsec gate camps…they are unfair on noobs. No more warp bubbles…they are unfair on noobs. Let’s all just sing Kumbaya and watch Netflix while mining.

Their solution did absolutely fix the issue, because everyone not anchoring a station is simply unaffected by wardecs.

might as well start calling them Gank-decs

I hear what you’re saying and I’ll actually take what he said seriously if that is your wish…

When I think about costs in my mind I look at the monthly expenses of the corporation. I know the profit numbers, system cost index changes and extortion amounts.

sounds like a pauper problem..

paupers should have a alt corp with one person to put up structures to get around being war decced..

I thought you started this thread by saying you weren’t Blackflag? Which I took as you weren’t part of one of the mass war-dec’ing corps in eve. Now you’re saying you’re responsible for 95% of the war-decs ingame?

oh noes… boo fn hoo

Don’t worry about me just worry about the facts and the topic of the thread which is high SEC and War declarations

Which in turn led to holding corps and people swapping in and out of wardecced corps on a whim.

It’s one thing preventing over-use of wardecs by larger corps, but to provide total safety as an alternative defeats the whole idea of the game as an unsafe, dystopian, sci-fi world. The ‘fix’ went too far in the opposite direction.

Being wardec-immune isn’t “total safety” as any gank confirms.

You just have to accept that real newbro-corps don’t need to be wardeccable in any way, shape or form, because those people need time to learn how things work. Without being harassed by some rich and experienced veterans that outperform them on every scale imaginable, with the sole intention to camp them to death and farm cheap kills.

And “holding corps” aren’t a result of stupid wardec mechanics but a result of stupid structure mechanics that allow the renting out of all services to non-corp/non-alliance characters. They provide anonymity on first glance, better or even total control over the structures by a very small leadership circle and wardec-immunity in HS as cherry on top. That should never have been implemented into the game.

War HQ blob smash… Is the ONLY reason mercs change corps. Without the explots of holding corps and war hqs… There would be no need to exploit other mechanics. I will settle these concerns in the future as this issue is not a primary function but a secondary result of other factors and will not be an issue once other exploits are removed. There is no point on arguing this fact before other concerns.

That is a false narrative…ironically spread by people who clearly survived being noobs. I was ganked and gate camped, both within the same week…yet I am still here and stronger than ever 5 years later.

The vast majority leave EVE because they are bored…not because they were ganked or whatever. Why are they bored ? Because nothing’s happening and what promised to be an exciting game full of carnage turned into watching a mining laser to Netflix.

CCP-FC keep on and on ‘fixing’ the wrong problem. It’s like the doctors of old who’d apply leeches…and if the leeches didn’t work, they’d apply more leeches, and more.

CCP needs to start worrying about maintaining long-term player base instead of constantly cycling through new people that come and go every 30 days.

Much of the subjects you talk about…i have no clue about. But, i can certainly agree with that one very much.

So your business is moving large amounts of valuable cargo.

If you are war decced you cannot traverse highsec safely.

If you can be decced and your business is moving large amounts of valuable cargo, you will be decced continually.

Are you saying you can carry on your business of moving 1B+ of cargo in a freighter through highsec under continual wardec?

I don’t see how.

So, if all corps are war deccable, then no hauling business can work. If all corps except NPC corps are deccable then all the haulers will be in NPC corps and thus need to pay NPC tax rate, if (as I think Gerard suggested) you can have an undeccable corp but only if it has NPC tax rates, then haulers will probably be in those corps. But in either of the last two cases they have to pay NPC corp tax rates. I don’t think they will be happy about these proposed changes.

I’m pretty sure that there are many neutrals in this game too, but it doesn’t really matter either way.

NPC taxes should not affect courier rates between player contracts. Protecting our couriers inside of non war eligible NPC corporations should be a priority in any new war system.
NPC taxes would be focused on industry jobs and market activity.
There should be a basic flow of risk equals reward. More risk more reward…

The sort of people likely to stay longest are precisely those whom a quick chuck in the deep end will turn into lasting PvP players. CCP-FC should stop desperately chasing those who wail and rant because they lost a free Venture.
