War Dec system idea thread continues

Being Immune to any form of pvp is not the eve way .

When i hear “limit number of decs” i hear “limit the amount of wars you can declare”

If i can recall it was only two times were the reverse would be necessary, and both those times from what i understand the vic did it to themselves.

Ok, so the same thing can happen offensively. Join an alliance, lose your decs.

Just cap the number of wars a corp/alliance can initiate at any time. This means they can’t wardec everyone in hisec… It also means there is no mechanic that allows you to alt-wardec yourself to become immune.

If an alliance is at its cap, then it cant invite another corp that also has active wars that it itself initiated.

^ Yup.

Scrap wardecs, let people pay money for peace and safety. Just like in irl.

\o/ Wardec cost RL money to CPP just like sub or plexs - both to attackers for war declaration or defenders to surrender, that should pay for all the alphas xD

Confirmed. I used it defensively on my industry guys when we’d get decced in HS. I’d start looking up members of the deccing corp(s) and put them into my watchlist.

It was really a non-issue for years. Heck it was also nice to know when an old friend came back too.

Bring back a form of the watchlist that automatically populates with war targets for the war’s duration, and disable it outside of highsec.

Would there be a problem with that? Shouldn’t we facilitate combatants finding each other and having, I dunno, cool space battles or something?

yeah , I like this idea

This is obvious to everyone, including CCP. You can’t have a PvP game where the combatants can’t even find each other or know the 10% or whatever of the time their opponent is online and vulnerable.

It doesn’t have to be instant or free, so you can charge for it, you can limit it, you can gate access to it, you can tie it to a vulnerable structure, but there needs to be some reasonable way to know if other players are online and available to engage in the driving content of this game: space battles.

The problem is thought that CCP is down to what, four major game design teams?, one of which seems almost exclusively focused on monetization and another on PvE/events leaving only two, extremely stretched teams to finish implementing the long overdue Upwell structures and implement the new AIs. Wars and hunting are so niche, they just are not a priority for development time.

They’ll have to touch it sooner or later, and the Observatory Array is the most obvious way it will be done, but at the pace we are going, I don’t expect those for another year. Still, improving locator functionality can’t come soon enough to make wars (outside the camp trade lane kinds) and bounty hunting, actually playable again.

CCP, all I want for Christmas is an updated roadmap of some kind. As has been the case for almost two years now, updates.eveonline.com is almost bare and it is really killing my holiday vibe.
