Wasted training time!

Skill progression has been a thing since day one. If it was an issue, EVE never would have got off the ground…

I dont think for example marauder was there on day one

Irrelevant.

You’re not asking for Marauders to be removed, but for skill progression to be removed.

You still can level things, you just dont have to wait for 3 months or pay 8 billion in skill injectors per ship

No sir

Its not player friendly to require a monthly sub and then gate ships behind for example 3-4 months of training each

Sorry, but you can’t have your multibox bot Marauder fleet on day one. Well, you can, but you’re going to pay through the nose for it…

Why is it not player friendly to put end game ships behind 3 to 4 months of training?

This is an MMO with a life time of decades. I think 3 to 4 months to reach end-game is incredibly fast, too fast even.

Its almost complete

You can add “Newer players are lazy and want everything for free with no time investment” to the list…

3 months of time investment per ship is excessive especially when some players can afford the ships in less time. ISK and how good you are at making should be the main limiting factor not arbitrary skill requirements. I rest my case.

Let’s look at a hypothetical EVE where there is no or very little skill progression.

How would players use or abuse that scenario?

Any veteran player can see the extreme value of being able to cycle names and characters for nearly free.

It’s like making forum alts without history, but ingame too! And for free. New character to join another alliance? Day one it joined, day two it can fly a Recon tackle with cyno to hunt blue supers with near-zero investment!

Without character progression there are no repercussions for bad behaviour. “Actions have consequences” is a big part of EVE, but that would be removed by making new characters free by removing or severely cutting progression.

It is good for the game that players can invest in their characters. Do not remove that.

I guess you disagree with @QuakeGod because he claims this idea will lead to people flying marauders into low sec thinking they will be completely safe and therefor its a bad idea. Nevermind he likes your post.

No I completely agree with him in this case.

You may be misinterpreting what I think. That’s not a first.

Forcing people to sub for 3 months before they can fly for example Marauder and then another 3 months for for example Black Ops is just an arbitrary barrier before they can start taking risks in those ships.

You can argue that Driver’s Ed training and a license are an arbitrary barrier to being able to drive on the highways, but you still have to do it…

That does not take 3 months and you dont have to do it when you change car. Besides this is SCI-FI and the ships practically fly themselves. For example you just click DOCK and the ship does everything for you. But that is besides the point.

This whole thread is pointless, IMHO.

OP has only stated facts about the game, those being:

  1. EVE has a Skill based progression system.
  2. Alpha Clone has restrictions.
  3. In-game currency is required to purchase in-game items.

He has yet to provide a solution to this “problem” and give a proper reasoning for why CCP should consider making such changes. All videogames have some kind of progression system. If they didn’t they would not be fun to play and would be equal to using cheats in Single Player games.

If you’re hell bend on wanting to cheat your way through the game I’d suggest you find a Single Player game where you can do as you please. Nobody is FORCING you to play EVE.

All I hear him say is “I WANT FREE STUFF… NOW!” - I seem to have forgotten which urban slang that’s often used for this kind of person or just neglecting to mention it.

Imo how much ISK and how good you are at making it should be the main limiting factor not arbitrary skill requirements.

The arbitrary skill requirements on for example marauders prevent people from progressing

You do know 10 yrs ago you couldn’t play without paying
