Wasted training time!

No sir

You shouldnt have to sub for 3-4 months or spend 8 billion ISK on skillpoints to fly a marauder or anything else for that matter

Why not?

They’re advanced late game ships for players who have been playing for a long time.

The progression path towards those ships nicely matches the in-game ecperience of players who have played that long.

Its not player friendly to require 3-4 months of subbing or 8 billion in skill injectors to fly them or any other ship

And thats just maruauder. If you want to fly black ops thats another 3 months of subbing or 8 billion in skill injector afaik. This is bs.

It’s a lot friendlier than to allow the new players to make very costly mistakes like ā€˜fly a Marauder before you know what a warp scrambler does’.

Progression systems in games are useful not only to keep engagement for a longer time, but also to introduce the game piece-wise to new players.

No its not

Most new players go into low sec in a venture or similar they will learn about warp disrupters before they can even afford a marauder

Yep.

So why are you asking for the game to allow those players to do their first trip into LS in an expensive Marauder instead of a Venture?

Isn’t it much more player-friendly if those players lose that Venture first?

Why do you want to get rid of the progression system?

You got to let players train for example Marauder so they have an incentive to save up ISK for it. Requiring 3-4 months of subbing or 8 billion in skill injectors makes most people leave the game.

How do you know what makes new players leave the game?

You haven’t left yet, have you?

Its one of several reasons people stop playing

I can think of another reason to leave:

Players who fly Marauders on their first trip into LS.

Still better than them never getting one and leaving

I realise you probably got 8 trillion ISK and 200M skillpoints and dont give a ā– ā– ā– ā–  about this but it dont mean im wrong

Much as I’d like to see a 16-year-old get a 3,000 horsepower hypercar for his first vehicle and immediately decapitate himself and a kill a family of four on the interstate within the first two minutes, there’s a reason we don’t let them do that.

Same goes for skill training and ship progression in EVE…

Intelligent players dont like that kind of restriction so you will end up with a small player base that do stupid things regardless of how much you try to nanny them

So, you would be that 16-year-old. Good to know. The world needs less people like that, not more…
