Well this makes EvE look like a terrible game CCP :(

Nope. It makes it seem like you’re getting more than it actually says you’re getting. A current EvE player will know instantly that it’s just a marketing trick, i’m more worried about people who don’t play yet and are considering it. The advert makes EvE look like a clickbait facebook game which is pants.

I am not seeing anything wrong with this. It is 5bucks for a few PLEX and 2 frigates. I mean it isnt like you are getting a fully kitted out Titan for 5bucks.

This is far from Pay 2 Win people.

It is a simple cash shop option. No different than the Alpha package deals they had about a year ago. Industrialist, Explorer, Military. Where you get a bunch of ships just for doing a 3 month sub.

you’re missing the point.

it is insulting, to both the game and our collective intellect.

I still think that nuPLEX looks like gold-pressed latinum and that this alone should have been a serious warning sign where this will end.

Its only painted gold.

Its outrageous, how can CCP sell something that have zero value in real life, its only pixels, and you cant even take those pixels and have fun with them, because it will be blowed up or ganked on the undock. Terrible game indeed. :smirk:

I dont think I am. Your point is if I am reading correctly. They are charging real money for in game products that would give an advantage over those who do not pay for this product.

The way I see it, seeing as it is a pair of frigates that are fitted, and odds are it is T1 stuff, valued at most 15mil a ship, that is nothing in the way of a P2W advantage.

People you are reading WAY to much into this. PLEX has since its beginning, been a cash cow for people who are willing to throw REAL life money into the game. I mean look at the market. You can see how many PLEX are on the market in JITA, RENS, HEK, or AMMAR, and you will see that there is literally tens of thousands of EUD sitting right there on the markets in PLEX. The computer didnt randomly generate them, people bought them and put them there.

And there I thought it was obvious to everyone that this was a joke.

Lol you obviously are struggling with the reading, language or compression and i apologize if it is because you are a foreigner.

The entire point of this thread is the way CCP IS MARKETING/ADVERTISING.

It makes EvE look like a facebook pay2win cash mobile phone/browers game.

It is how CCP IS MARKETING the ships and stuff.

No one is crying people are getting ships.

We are mad ccp is saying “HEY YOUNG NEW GAMERS COME GIVE SOME EXTRA CASH FOR MORE TANK AND SUPER GUNS AND BE INVINCIBLE FOR CASH AND WIN AT EVE!”

That is the message they are PURPOSELY AIMING FOR.

They hired an EA advertising person for a reason dude

I mean wow did you even read the Thread title, original post or view the freaking advertisement? ??

You are being IGnorant

No need to get insulting. So calm down. And the title of this thread is "Well this makes EvE look like a terrible game CCP :frowning: "

I am disagreeing with that, I dont think it makes it look like a terrible game. I think it could have been phrased differently or handled differently yes. BUT is it making the game look bad. NO, that is a matter of personal opinion.

Sorry sometimes text does not convey the inflection that you may have wanted. Simple misunderstanding.

Who is a target audience for this ad? Who we need more in EVE as targets? Exactly. We need more people throwing money at the screen and waiting for stuff to happen. I can already taste the salt in chat channels. :smirk:

Allow me to clear this up for a third time, as the OP. I think the advert deliberately makes it “seem” to the player that in EvE you can buy things for cash that you cannot otherwise have. I feel this “don’t actually say it, but allude very hard toward it” style of advertising should be reserved for cheapy throw away facebook games, and that the use of such tactics only detracts from the image of EvE in the eyes of a prospective new player. I certainly scroll right past any game that alludes toward a pay-to-win system, as does anyone else with 2 brain cells to rub together.

Again, we are all very aware that the advert only promises 2 rifters and just happens to also have the words MORE TANK written elsewhere next to the images. This is obvious to a current EvE player but not to a prospective new player, who i believe will be less likely to give the game a shot as a result of this poor marketing strategy.

:boredparrot:

I agree it is poor marketing.
But again, it isnt making the game look terrible. Just not what it actually is.

What game do you would expect just from the ad alone?

Seeing as there are quite literally hundreds of hours of videos and advertisements for EVE, I would say it is one bad advertisement.

Every Twitch video by CCP is a bad advertisement.

Which is all i was saying was bad, that one advert. I feel as though you’re trying not to understand this or something… …

this is funny. you completely miss the point. you’re not wrong! it’s a bad ad! you just don’t see the issue! mbe reminded, that this isn’t the first ad like this and that they do this in different forms. one particular example i remember was the pancake battleship, when they introduced it. the ad was aiming for the same kind of target audience.

the same target audience that needs the game “more accessible” and needs “simplification”. also those who need a protection button and i won’t derail into suspect state at all, as usual. the target audience that demands content, without creating any, even complaining when others play the game with them in ways it has been normal for over a decade…

Ahem…

it’s written this way, because there are people reacting to the bait. the bait is a false promise of being able to buy an advantage. that’s why it’s written that way. i can see why you don’t “get it” and why you “ignore” that lots of people do “get it”.

you don’t see that there is more to be considered than “just a bad ad”. it’s not even bad, when you ignore that it’s intellectually insulting! luckily this doesn’t matter, though.

in the corporate world, there’s no such thing as “just an ad”. these things matter, are planned and cost money. lots of science went into figuring out how it should be written and many generations have passed growing up with sciences attempt of getting people to wanting to buy something.

it’s written this way, because there’s really people who can be baited with this. that’s the actual thing here.

CCP baits people who are attracted by this. that means they attract people who aren’t like those in here, who realize what kind of marketing this is. it’s free2play marketing, from EA’s guy (he left again, didn’t he?) or CCP Seagull. smart people don’t see this and buy it, just because of an ad. they research, at least a minimum.

Thinking is bad. a customer who thinks is a customer who questions, and questions lead to doubt, like “do i really need this?”

If it still evades you, why all this is a bad then i have to apologize, because it’s not possible for me to simplify this topic and or making it more accessible.

BRAVE was the spark, leading CCP the way towards the masses. And these masses are farmers. Even PvP is farming, when you’re just a drone clicking F1, and SRP makes it a happy experience either way.

That’s why you have nullseccers crying about afk cloaking, why CCP gives us events and The Agency. That’s why the whole 260mill tick drama started and why they, CCP, waited with reacting to ghost training until people on reddit started making a fuzz. this ad stands for everything that’s wrong in this game right now.

it’s an ad for people who want to feel stronger than others.

the old people, who actually wanted to play the game for the game’s sake, slowly got alienated. not all at once, but over time. decisions were made. these players weren’t happy about them, because they were aware where they led to, which is current reality. yet they were called all kinds of things and no one listened. people just parrotted whatever CCP shoved down their throats, using the New Player Argument so often that it hurts.

This game is a shallow excuse of what it has been and could be. CCP took it and ruined the freedom of the sandbox by nerfing EVE’s culture, turning it into a themepark for consumers, who slowly drive out the rest of those who actually care about the game. all it does is take time. they either win or kill the game, because those who would be willing to make a change are being seperated and dwarfed by those who want it how it is now.

lots of evidence of these people one can find here on the forums.

There. That’s a TL;DR. (yes, really)

you’ll find additional reading material further above in my big post and spread through my posting history. :stuck_out_tongue:

PS: not meaning to be mean at all, but have any of you ever considered that all we need to do is group up and organize?

it’s this modern, western thing that people endlessly discuss things without achieving anything. disvussions, which suck the will for change out of everyone. discussions, continuously distracting from what’s important. that, too, is now a thing thanks to politics, but not in-game.

i am solely talking about those who agree with me, but other people are no different.

everyone just talks and thinks his opinions matter, as if there was any tangible gain from that. no one ever talks about the things that matter, what needs to be changed and how they need to be changed, and no one ever even tries having a discussion with me about how to create this change.

The problem is already well known and a plattform for discussion does not help solving it. the idea that “more people need to know” doesn’t achieve anything when no one actually wants to listen. things got reduced to egos thinking they’re the better person and needing to tell others that they’re worse. on both sides of the equation.

What SHOULD be happening is that those who really care actually contact me, because i’m likely and apparently one of those who actually want to and who also have the knowledge of how to fight this. It doesn’t happen, though, because no one really cares. everyone’s ego is ■■■■■■■ happy with talking about how he sees things, how others are mean, how boring everything is.

This apathy is disgusting. Seriously. Life is a dystopian shithole, so bad, that people don’t even fight back in a freaking game. no, instead they quit, because they feel powerless, as if thsy weren’t thousands, easily able to bring any complex system to its knees both from inside or outside!

i even gave clear directions, in this very thread, about how to actually force CCP down to their knees! it’s a working solution and it’s proven, because it’s as old as history itself!

Some day, someone will say: “This is how EVE ONLINE dies. With thunderous applause!”

Applause by literal fanatics, like we have them on the forums, who wanted the game to be how they want it, using every trick in the book to achieve it. And what did you do?

You let them win!

The image in the OP is not the full advertising as can be seen here:

It’s still not a way to advertise I would support, but it is not that bad as this first image make it seem to be.
But I agree on the OP. Someone unfamiliar with EVE could easily make false assumptions. It should be changed to avoid this.
