I am considering moving in to a WH, i have a fairly good understanding of mechanics etc, however i am uncertain as the the class of WH to move into or would best suit us, so i would appreciate some advice.
We will probably be 3-5 ppl (real people), all with alts.
What we would like:
minimal or no PvP if possible, hermit people
Quieter WHs, minimal traffic
Is a static to shattered WH even possible?
fairly easy access to K-Space as required
Ability to make good isk from mining/gas/PI//Moon goo/data&relic/combat sites etc we like the PVE side of things the most
I understand the most of the risk of WH space, but trying to mitigate that as much as possible
Should we go with a medium or large pos or citadel?
Can a citadel clone jump to another citadel?
Ship recommendations for running combat sites outside of heavy skills or expensive ships?
My thoughts:
C2 with C2 or C3/LS static - will this kind of WH bring decent isk opportunities?, i know it will likely offer good PvP but im concerned about can we make enough isk to support ourselves?
C3/LS static - my concern with this is no WH static, again i think the PvP side is less but do you feel a C2 with a static WH is better than a C3 without for isk making?
C4 - Havent heard anyone say anything good about these tbh?
C5 - We dont really want to move in to a C5 as we prob wont have the capital capacity to defend it, or if we did we would be concerned of heavy fleets rolling in to evict etc if we did have limited capital capacity?
Any advice you experienced WH fellows could offer would be appreciated.
Gas and relic/data are rng ! If you want the best gas then you need minimum a C5 ! If you want good combat anomalie then a c3 are good ā¦ bit they never respawn instantlyā¦ if you farm to.much you will only habe 2/3 sites per day ! You would like to have a static C3
Citadel ! Its always the best choice
No ! You only can swlitch your pods on your citadel but you never can jump into or out of wh space with clonejump
Depends on witch wh class you want to farm
A C3 is always the worst wh until you only mine your moons and do industry stuff ā¦ a c2 with good statics is the best option for beginners but thats just my oppinion ! I dont think you can find a c2 with a c3 static but im actual not sure if they existā¦
You canāt have both. Iād recommend a wormhole with static Nullsec (and no other statics), thereās virtually no traffic from the static. But you cannot control incoming wormholes, so if roamers find soemthing juicy, itās PvP time.
Seek out Wormlife. They have wormhole stations ( freeports ) in many wormholes. I never joined them but all are welcome to use their stations. You will find a link to their Discord within the corp description in game. Ask for an opening to any of their wormholes and check in often. When you do get an opening have your people ready to fly.
Since these people are always doing tasks in wormholes, they are the experts. I lived in their base for about 5 to 6 months mining gas and killing NPCs. I only left because I grew tired of the lack of player interaction inside wormholes. However I never joined their corp and that might be a key difference.
Experience will answer almost all these questions, and established groups are a great way to get that experience.
Itās a serious investment of time and resources moving into wormholes, all on the risk you may not actually like it. Living there and day tripping there are two completely different experiences with two different levels of investment required.
Everything you think you might need, you need to bring with you if you live there. If things go bad, you then have to hopefully haul everything back out or lose it. Joining an established group for your first mass foray into wormholes reduces a lot of the cost and risk.
Does that C3/C3 you found have a scout logged off, waiting for someone to settle it so they can lead an assault fleet to you?
Thank you for all your input, I will take it all under consideration.
Another question is do you think c3 or c4 WHs get more pvp in general ?
C3 could have a single null or low sec static which seems like less traffic and while a c4 has 2 statics, they arenāt to Kspace so it takes anyone a minimum of 2 jumps to jump from k space to find you.
PvP comes to any area that offers juicy targets, if anyone sees your PvE activity and reports back to his gang, it does absolutely not matter if you are in a C3 or a C4, they will come and try to kill you. C3s have - from my experience - more open holes and more traffic than C4s., so the chance to be seen might be smaller in a C4. On the other hand, the stuff on the field (aka the ships you need to farm the C4 combat/data/relic sites) will be a lot more expensive than in a C3. So while you might lose stuff less often, losses will be more costly on average.
But, your problem in the end will be something else. If you try to avoid PvP as much as you can, your killboard will contain PvE losses only, itās simply unavoidable to lose ships every now and then. This will paint a big target on your back, for two reasons:
you look weak, unable to resist any coordinated attack and your cheap Astrahus will only have one real timer (because the shield timer they can safely shoot while you sleep). Also there is no asset safety in WH space and every attacker knows that. So you are nothing but a big loot pinƔta for anyone who cares to shoot you. It can even be two guys that can multibox 5 Leshaks each, if you have no combat experience, you will lose to them. And without combat, you will gain no such experience. You are a safe-win for any attacker and anyone will know it on first glance. It can take two weeks, it can take 6 months - but someone will come and burn everything you have.
āPvE farmersā arenāt liked very much in WH space. Those who already live there despise pure āISK printersā that only want to farm but go docking on the first sight of danger. It can be that some group simply evicts you to tell you that you donāt belong there and should pack your bags and leave. They might even seed your home WH to farm YOU for a while. Itās a simple concept: if you donāt offer content, you arenāt tolerated for long. Nobody will spare you, nobody will come to help you. Fight for your hole, even if you lose often, give gfās if they managed to beat you and many WH inhabitants will respect that and let you live there even if they could easily burn down your hole: because you are an enrichment for that space, you offer fights, you offer fun. And this way, you learn to fight, you make contacts and maybe even long-term relationships if you behave.
So, tldr: In WH space you can only survive for a longer time if you do one of two things:
a) look for allies that can protect you, which requires you to have the ability to help them if they are in need as well. Or b) be able to fight for your home.
If you canāt do either of it (or donāt want it), WH space is nothing for you, you will burn only ISK and time. Print ISK in HS by forming some L4/Arc/Abyssal-Running Corp or whatnot, that will give you a LOT more ISK with a LOT less hassle than trying to live in a WH while trying to avoid PvP.
