I know people who fix defective ebooks by removing the DRM worm in them, just in case someone in the future thinks they no longer own the book they paid for.

So with Babel-17 done and dusted I looked further into the aforementioned box and was overjoyed to see another few childhood favourites.
I’ve just started Ursula Le Guin’s ‘Wizard of Earthsea’ and also have laid up several Conan novels. IIRC ‘Conan the Buccaneer’ was one of my favourites so that’ll be next on the list.
I’ve also been reading ‘World War Z - An Oral History of the Zombie War’ at work (yes, I’m lucky and no, I’m not Homer Simpson). I’m around two thirds of the way through it and in truth I’m finding it a little overly narrative and predictable, but I’ll finish it anyway.

Finished The Lost Continent: Travels in Small-Town America by Bill Bryson. The gist: The writer spent his kid and teen years in Des Moines, Iowa and his adult working and family-raising years in England. He then goes back to mom’s house in Des Moines and starts a solo road trip around rural America in an old economy car he borrowed from mom. (He’s a professional magazines, newspapers, whatever writer, and obviously looking for some content a full length novel). Every day’s funny, some parts are LOL absurd funny. I’d recommend it.
Anyone read this series? The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott. My young and smart co-worker said it was amazing. Any intel?

Something a little different. ‘White Line Fever’, Lemmy’s autobiography.
I picked it up at a book exchange whilst working on St Cristobal in Galapagos around 15 years ago and happened upon it again when doing an attic clear out. I guess I’d intended to read it at some point whilst over there, but it ended up in the side pocket of a suitcase.
Why didn’t I get around to reading this earlier??? It’s a hoot! Highly recommended.

Reading Watch for Me on the Mountain by Forrest Carter. It’s a novel about the Apache war shaman Geronimo. Really good, my second time reading it. The author also wrote the Josey Wales novels.
