Rereading SpellSinger by Alan Dean Foster.
Starting this one for the second time. Last time I read it was in 2016. Thought I could refresh my memory a bit.
Would you like to tell us your takeaways from it? I’ve heard the name of the book, but I do not know what is it about.
The decline in reading for pleasure over 20 years of the American Time Use Survey

Give me a few days. I’m reading multiple books at the same time, and I need to refreshen my memory on this one a bit to do it justice. But basically Dawkins is dealing with the subject of religiosity and organized religion, and how it distorts people’s understanding of what goes on around them, and how organized religion is harmful in terms of mass manipulation, for example. He deals with the idea of god on a conceptual level and, of course, attempts to disprove the existence of it based on scientific arguments.
But I need to finish it again, to be able to sum it up better.
My reading habit and choice of books has become whimsical and erratic lately.
Nowadays I’m reading Thing Explainer by the XKCD comics author.
It is a book that explains science and engineering mainly, but uses as simple words as possible.
I almost got the impression that “Simple Jack” from Tropic Thunder could’ve been the author.
It is THAT simple.
Standing here like I’m supposed to say something
Don’t hold your breath, I never said I’d save you, honey
And I don’t want your money
If I was you I’d run from me or rip me open
You’ll see you’re not the only one who’s hopeless
Be sure to put your faith in something more
I’m just a boy and you’re not as alone as you feel
We all got problems, don’t we?
We all need heroes, don’t we?
But rest assured there’s not a single person here who’s worthy
Don’t let me let you down
Hey, baby I’m not your superhuman
And if that’s what you want
I hate to let you down
Or get your hopes up
Now I got you hoping
That I’m gonna be the one that let you down
Usain Bolt and The Flash told me you’re faster than both of them?
Man, I gotta finish reading The Dresden Files series. I’m set to read book 12 some time in the future. The guy in the image makes another appearance in book 15.

I’m still reading Thing Explainer among reading other books in rotation.
The other book that I’m actually re-reading is Jack Canfield’s The Success Principles 20th Anniversary Edition. I’ve also read the original release, and the 10th Anniversary editions. It is completely revamped for the post-AI age.
The difference between original, 10th, and the 20th is that the original relies on teaching all the reasons and techniques of why we can work harder & smarter at the same time, while the 10th adds digital age’s “Web 2.0” on top of that. The 20th has invaluable advice on how to use A.I. fully to get an advantage about everything we strive towards in life.
