I don’t read a lot of books, hurts my eyes even with glasses, but I do try. I don’t have statistics but I would say 2 or 3 books a year and my favorite books are all Science Fiction, Sword & Sorcery or Historical Fiction.
Hi, not the worst day, but an awkward day so far. Everything went perfect and cheerful. Even spoiled myself with a book reading while eating food at the balcony of my home. I made myself a huge mug of Cola with a huge square ice cube in it that filled most of the colossal mug and had my Kindle Oasis half charged to last me for several hours. I also had chocolate with me. The sky was clear blue and bright, so I crossed my legs(this was before I saw Yiole’s post in LAGL) and enjoyed reading. I was so carried away with the book I was currently reading and I then noticed the maid of the opposite apartment’s upper neighbor was on the balcony who had been hanging the washed clothes of that house even saying “hi” and “good morning” to me. She looked impressed with my cozy book pleasure.
Then I had lots of activity during the day which was quite productive.
Oh no, is it a medical condition? Those are valid choices, like all others. I always say that everyone has a genre that appeals or relate to them. No matter if it is a garbage collector or any other human, all sizes, shapes, colors and ages etc.
Yes, I remember the print quality being better back in the day as well. Thought I’d reread the classics since Michael A. Stockpile and Timothy Zahn are writing Battltech again. I think this is one of those new “print on demand” books. Next time I’ll request a hardcover copy since it’s the @DeMichael_Crimson ’s that are paying for this program to Amazon books to me, to help my poor rural library system.
I used to do that until I realized my mom was being polite.. After that I quit telling her. Though we did enjoy some of the same books. Flowers for Algernon hit me hard when I read it for the first time. At the time I just did not have quite the vocabulary to really articulate just how much I identified with the Algernon. As first he becomes very intelligent and then the decline. How my fear then was that I would become an old man that I would lose a lot of my intelligence.
As a senior today. I am still sharp and am on point a lot of time. A lot more than a lot of seniors. But still it takes me a little longer to think something through. It is why I play games instead of vegetating in front of a T.V..
I know understand what people mean when they say Stackpole is a bad writer. All these editors and some parts are just primitive. Good at describing action and emotion though. Plus he builds upon the “universe”.
I was partially through the second part of Herbert’s Dune before, but got distracted. I still want to get back to it though and got the third volume ready as well.
…but I suspect I may be rereading the LOTR trilogy first.
You may be the first to read it! I’ve had it a while but had no comments yet.
Mixed. I got the LOTR book before the third movie was out and had read the hobbit many years before that hobbit trilogy even existed on film, so much of the universe was imagined without the movies.
Some scenes of the movies definitely influenced my imagination for those parts in the books. But the movies didn’t cover everything of the books, so there’s plenty left to imagine.
I don’t think I’ve seen Tom Bombadil in the movies, for one!
