Suddenly the British actor Brian Blessed came to my mind for the role of Tom. Perhaps he’s the one who could pull the role off and the singing if he weren’t too old.

Never read Moby Dick before, but I’m about a third of the way through now and I am surprised. A classic that is very engaging, completely unlike Dickens.
After that I’m trying to decide if I should read some Octavia Butler or another Tim Powers.
