What are your thoughts on sarcity?

addressing the wrong CCP in my opinion

although I’d like to know to what extent Project Discovery flattened the population curve…

The idea of making ship losses and with that engagements more impactful and trying to force people into conflicts based around “scarce” ressources on paper is great.

However.

With the excistence of PLEX (RMT), Multiboxing and still a easy to bot game.
These changes hit the groups the hardest that already struggled beforehand.

Small / Mid Scale Industrialists
Small / Mid Scale PVPers
Upstart groups that now have to compete with established groups that already have stashes of ships and minerals / Ore.

It is a good idea, implented absolute horribly in typical CCP fashion.

Another poster earlier compared EVE to a 4x game with unlimited ressources.
Rightly stating that it quickly turns dull. Thus argueing for scarcity.

The issue with that is that he makes the same mistake CCP did.

Imagine joining in a 4x lobby that previously ran on unlimited ressources.
Now you join in and they switch it over to “scarce ressources”

How tf are you supposed to compete with the established groups that had all the time to get mad stacks
of cash and ressources and massive armies/fleets and constantly curbstomp you as you try to build your empire. No matter what you do, you gonna get dunkd.

Ressources are not the issue.
Power Projection, Botting and forming powerblocs (blue donut) is.

What we need is fractured groups (Limit corporation and alliance sizes further and remove standings).
With limited power projection (Jump fatique is stupid, just increase LO use and decrease range)
that compete for scarce ressources.

Current state of scarcity targets the wrong people and actualy helps the bigger groups gatekeep.

Dont forget it’s also open-door to more monetization tactics to help the “little guy” get by in an increasingly divided universe.

Given CCP’s and PA’s trackrecord, Im willing to bet that’s what they’ll do and pass it on as a necessary evil to keep the game afloat …

Cutting, burning… better cut, the wood is usefull when tree is cut down, not when its already burned to the ground.

I dont see CCP treating the game as a forest that they will burn and just leave it. They are industrious people when it comes to monetization. They need money. For me its obvious they are thinking how to exploit any opportunity.

And to think I believed this guy had a clue for a bit …

lol

nope.

Neither on anything he has to say about the game from now on.

This means you misunderstood the purpose for the burning the forest in the first place.

Which is the perfect closing to the analogy because you have completely misunderstood the reason behind scarcity too.

Will you still be trying to convince everyone once Ore packs for a dollar are introduced ?

Ore packs by when? Because if they do it 10years from now its not about scarcity.

Give a date and if they introduce ore packs by then I’ll concede that that may have been the agenda.

If they don’t, you contract your stuff to me and biomass…

I don’t know who is right about Scarcity, or even sarcity, but I do know none of us are perfect, not you, not Mr_Epeen and not me either.

This is one issue among hundreds or perhaps even thousands. You will find value in Mr_Epeen’s words again…just so long as you don’t resolve to go deaf.

But even more important than that is remembering that the results of our bickering here will be nothing…absolutely nothing.

I can live by that deal, even it shows how stupid you “think” …

The divide between people who stockpiled previous scarcity and those that didn’t will be too great, and more power to the blue donut.

They’ll be “forced” to do it, sooner or later, doesn’t really matter when.

Remember this is PA, not CCP.

PA = Microtransactions.

Give a date!

Despite it being utterly dishonest for him to ask for a specific date, and just shows he wants to be here only to win arguments, it would also mean giving in to his/your stupid trollbait.

No thanks. Go away you smelly turd.

duno if i already posted … but
my thoughts on scarcity…
i dont like it…
more people with money = more ships in space = more pew pew = less grind for people like me who just want to pay the plex and have fun
one of the most popular ways to avoid mega inflation in MMORPGS is to have abundance but concentrate the money in the hands of very few players , EVE did it for a long time , NULL crabs and industrialists had trillions and joe six pack miner have a second job
that way you don’t overheat the markets and the prices don’t go crazy , most don’t have purchase power to buy ■■■■ and those who have invest im plex or stock stuff but that is not translated to the market prices
its not optimal … but it kinda works …
i think the better solution is to have a system that have abundance but make the rich have at most 5x the earning of the poor , so there is incentive to do specialized work but people who like or for any reason do low level work retain some economic power
edit:
but like i said this may generate inflation and fail …

Agrees to the deal and then chickens out. Sad!

Calm down miner, we just want to see you honor the bet you agreed to. Or maybe the “ore packs” aren’t going to happen?

Do you have some form of an argument to explain that they won’t ?

Wait, isn’t bickering (arguing) about EVE what these forums are for?
I don’t disagree with your conclusion by the way.

Only CCP knows what it is trying to achieve.
Only CCP can tell us if it has met those targets.
The company is under no obligation to tell us anything.
We are under no obligation to believe what has been said.

Was still growing before scarcity. That’s the point. Slowing down growth slows down the rich/poor divide.

It’s more dishonest to never give a date.

How will we ever know the result if you can keep changing the goal posts?
