Bummer, I started in 08 and missed that part of the fun.
But I must add I don’t care about the graphics so much as the playability. I’m old and as someone else replied about playing PC games in the 80’s. Games back then had sheet for graphics, barley more than stick figures. Game designers concentrated on playability because they had no other choice. It made for better games.
What single business decision that you’ve made for CCP would you take back if you could, and how would you have done it differently
knowing what you know now? (Challenge: please pick something other than the response to the monocle protests… too long ago)
“CCP grew too fast during the years 2008 – 2010, I should have shown more patience and pace.”
What do I miss? It is the insane ways we could rape the large alliances for kills in high sec with a small corp of players with no SP, just because we lucked out and joined up with a good corp that had couple of really good FC’s! Once again, SP don’t matter, knowledge of the game does…
60k+ players online , but nooo they had to break the game with Dominion ■■■■ you patch. gone downhill since , and no CSM. you do realise CSM stands for Chaos Space Marines right…no good will ever come of this no matter how you dress it up.
before T2 release you only had 5 ships for each faction
mining in Apoc’s or similar BS’s and using Indy ships to transport ore back to the nearest station, as it was the safest and fastest way to mine, while fending of NPC rat and the odd free loading player trying to steal your ore cans.
the big expansion race out to explore and claim nulspace when it was made available, reminded me of the old land rushes in the OLD WEST of USA.
faction police, these NPC’s make the current CONCORD look like idiots. you steal a can you’d have at least 2 faction ships of equal or better specs than your ship chasing you down.
walking around the station.
the community learning the game together and helping each other, even if we were killing each other a few hours before hand.
Another 2005 player chiming in, started playing after reading about GHSC’s heist and execution. God there is so much I miss:
But most of all I miss my buddylist - so many friends gone forever. People I have known and spoken to everyday for almost 10 years - gone, mostly because CCP in their desire to get people to move out to null, destroyed the risk-reward balance they had. CCP needs to make it much harder to hold territory than to conquer it. They need to remove Asset Safety and make the risk match the immense rewards available in null. The CSM isn’t the problem, CCP forgot what made EvE great in the first place, and sadly I think they are afraid to undo what they have done.
I love EvE and will probably maintain characters in EvE until the servers shutdown, I wish CCP would retrace their steps and return EvE to greatness.
Long ago in another life 3 guys in Rifters could get drunk and roam all night terrorizing lowsec. You see back in 07 rifters werent shite and people actually went to lowsec.
Ruppee Rue in Dodixie, regardless of whatever happened, the loss of an engaging, shittalking, scamming, all around fun, and most importantly ACTIVE chat in a trade hub cannot be overlooked.
If you wanted to point at one massive problem in Eve right now, its the creepy silence everywhere in local.
And I havent seen a colored text in local chat for any reason other than to scold someone in quite literally years. Do you guys even play your game? Is it even fun at all for you?
