I believe this app has all of Eve’s Music:
For me it was back when the developers had a passion about the game, before CCP was owned by venture capitalists, before it was owned by Pearl Abyss. I remember them actively building lore, with chronicles, Scope stories, world beacons, and item descriptions. Now everything is so bland, and there is so very little when it comes to world building. I started playing Eve because I felt like I was part of an active breathing world that players could shape. You had chronicles to read when you weren’t immersing yourself in this new world, you had expansions that actually added content, and you had the glorious battles of nullsec that everyone talked about and wanted to be a part of.
Now everything has been scrubbed clean, I mean I remember the original description of the in game item Plundering 101. Chronicles haven’t been published in ages, and expansions are moreso just balance passes with the minor change to go with it. Some of the changes killed the game, and made some of your most expensive and difficult to achieve ships now mostly hanger queens. It feels like CCP is now more interested in making as much skins and in game micro transactions than actually making content. The Triglavian Invasions/scouts are mediocre and in many ways just punished casual players who didn’t have the time to dedicate to large scale projects. Older features like Sansha Incursions, Factional Warfare, and wormhole space have been mostly ignored except for the occasional balance pass to mix them up slightly. The sovereignty system that was supposed to create chaos only made stagnation more embedded.
Instead of hearing about the massive wars that saw systems fought over for weeks, now are mostly just lawls campaigns out of pure entertainment instead of purpose. I remember the days of being an IT Alliance member and wanting to kill every goon that came across my overview, but now that passion is gone. Hell half of the time you will have problems just finding anything on your overview worthwhile to shoot as many systems are dead or very unpopulated.
I miss the newness of Eve, the awe of the world. I fear the only thing we can look forward to is just more micro-transactions and skins. All of the passion is gone, now everyone is just playing out of habit or out of nostalgia. I think Eve is still a great game, but I want that passion back again to make it even greater.
You mean when nullsec was actually dangerous to fly in and wasn’t devoid lands of nothing? The big blue donuts killed the fun. Provi Bloc back in the day was amazing. All groups would shoot each other daily and then form up to fight the big groups who wanted the space back.
I used to be the type of eve player that would roll over in the morning and check discord to see what had gone down on the overnight…I likely still would be if they game hadn’t basically patched me out.
Being an alliance leader/ CEO / recruiter/ friend counsellor was a big deal to me (and still is).
Eve has turned into a toxic relationship for me. Why should I pour so much of myself into this game?
What motivation has CCP given real leaders and organizers of this game?
Eve isnt really necessairly in full decline. Whether you realize it or not , the passionate players, the adults and real enthuasists who built the legacy of this game are being completely ignored so they can be replaced with the Fortnite crowd.
The CSM is working perfectly. The voices of the vocal majority continue to shape the game , with ccp, towards perfect symmetry that shaves off the rough edges and bumpy areas. No new fun game comes out of doing the same things over and over though. The crowd from which you base your ideas is uninspired and lacks the ability to innovate. At best You will only ever get re-used ideas with the CSM, at the worst, you fortify major block alliances which are literally the problem with this game.
Mal mentioned “passion”. I used to have so much passion for this game. It used to involve a big part of my life. Look at how CCP spent 2019 and tell me why the @#$ i should spent another minute in their universe?
When we asked for help on community building/recruitment they gave us the Hypernet relay. No reason to roll over out of bed to check the Discord as long as the new overlords are so clearly concerned with only greed.
But I guess I should not bother giving a crap anymore as the odds of this feeling getting noticed and actioned are about as remote as me setting up a cottage on Europa.
What do you miss about Eve that is now gone?
CCP enforcing forum rules and swinging the ban hammer.
I miss the drama and vitriol of the big wars.
CCP Mr. H needs to pull his head out of his a s s
Under the header of “effectively communicating with the player base”
- The Evelopedia. Too much information is now scattered across the web, too much relies on the continued efforts of the Eve University community instead of the game designer. A central repository of all info on mechanics for a game as old and complex as EveO is not a luxury but a necessity.
- Patch notes ! Any time files are updated there should be patch notes.
- The o7 Show with CCP Guard and CCP Mimic.
- One place where devs respond, and that should be our forums, not twitter/reddit/facebook/all over the place…
Under the header of “UI”
- IGB. Understandable it had to go for technical reasons, but still.
- A part of the Jukebox, namely the ability of selecting in-game Eve music by title (how hard can it be, one wonders, the engine is there, the list of songs is there, just need a pick and choose list or random choice checkbox)
- Of course the old Aura voice. Wonder what would happen if one were to slow down the current voice by 10-15%. Yes, definitely preferred the deceptively calm voice of impending doom to the current attitude deprived chatter.
- Better scaleable windows. Minimum fixed sizes (height, column widths etc) now take far too much screen real estate. Playing on a 27" screen feels very cramped now.
Gameplay
Those wonderful days without entosis links, jump fatigue and weird structure vulnerability mechanics.
Out of game
The old forum layout (a matter of personal taste) instead of the current waste of screen surface (how many single line posts can you currently fit per screen, not to mention more than 50% unused space left and right unless logged in ?). Personalized signatures were cool too and usually very informative.
All that being said about these small things, Eve is a fantastic, unequaled game that has received some very good additions and improvements.
CSM was\is a joke.
Structures are a joke. POS\Cits\all of them.
Worse thing of all is passive income streams. Killed NULL TBH.
From the individual small group standpoint the nerfage of supers(motherships mostly) and their prior immunity to bubbles and infi point scrams reduced the fun in eve and forced people towards groups like the Goons. Really who wants to go through a recruitment process for them or any alliance that approximates a house closing or security clearance for an intelligence agency?
Freighter Ganking.
This thread might help, I use those scripts and they make browsing these forums much more enjoyable.
God please bring back that awesome torps explosions. I would use them only for that
The old war dec mechanics pre 2012.

“That which doesn’t kill me had better start running!”
Interesting post. Without meaning offense, I might suggest that you perhaps overextended yourself and put too much work/effort into the game. I’ve done similar in the past. We should all remember it’s just a game and try to have fun and help others have fun (even while shooting them) and just… enjoy ourselves. Instead of always creating more work for ourselves and others. Just my 2 cents.
exactly this.
and introducing warp to 0 was a big mistake.
and no your not the last one around.
Man, that would be fun!
And I cant think of any better way to hurt a large null block. (Goons ) We would rotate WD’s through them with a merc WD or 2 to pay for it. From a 50k avg to 20k. It is to weep…
I miss being yelled at for killing the pod before everyone had lock!
I had seen to many get through the gate before all ships could achieve lock and waited as long as I could. I also miss the old kill board which stated my favorite prey as pods.
I miss the events and the competition they made in high sec. Especially the guristas and blood raider ones. The last few with gambling and hacking were so boring and the loot was absolute trash wasnt worth anyones time apart from the 5 minute old players.
