What do you miss about Eve that is now gone?

I miss being able to use the old 2D scan probe system to create safe spots 100’s of AU away from anything, and far above or below the plane of the solar system. Now we have 3D probes, but are confined to the solar system plane. Signatures are never more than a few AU away from any planet. Years ago, all my deep safes were moved much closer inward. EVE got a lot smaller when that happened.

I’ll make a thread asking for 10m donations from each, and I hope I get hundreds if not thousands of donations

I seem to remember when EVE was first released, when jumping through a gate your ship would land in some random spot in the destination solar system? Gate camps were set up on the inbound gate. But then when players invented insta-jump bookmarks, inbound gate camps were pointless, so CCP changed it so ships landed 15km from the outbound gate, and gate camps moved there.

Or was that a dream?

The old Torpedo effects. It was cooler to use them, and scarier to be on the receiving end of them.

I miss the BOB wars, too bad the goons wrecked it.

I miss Minmatar ships looking unfinished. They’re supposed to be junky, cobbled-together, made of things found in the bin, and now they’re basically just brown Caldari ships.

I also miss the pre-F2P era. You had a two-week trial, three-week if you had a friend invite you, and beyond that, you had to pay to keep playing. It seems to me that it weeded out the non-serious players.

I miss the old CCP. Somewhere along the line, they had their grimdark soul sucked out and replaced with casual garbage. There’s still a glimmer of hope for them, I think… I hope. When I started playing, it was my dream to work at CCP and help make EVE more grimdark and awesome than it already was. But with CCP being the way it is today, especially now being owned by Pearl Abyss, even if I got a free college education and 72 of my own personal toothless 18-year-old hookers as a signing bonus, I wouldn’t do it. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror having helped perpetuate the dumpster fire that is EVE today. I only pay in the hope that CCP will turn around, get their ■■■■ together, and make EVE great again, and I want to give them the chance to do that.

You strike me as the sort I like to hang with at a party but I’d be nervous to have as a roommate.

In no particular order

  • buddy list that could be used to hunting specific targets
  • orbital strikes to aid dusties
  • a well-maintained lore site and in-game-world news in the launcher
  • evelopedia (yes I am crazy)
  • RR battleship furballs as a valid tactic for small-ish (20-ish people) fleets
  • pre-capital-ship lowsec pirates / antipirates
  • particular people who have quit

CCP devs in the Minmatar channel almost daily, running events to mess with the Amarr.

Torpedoes exploding with a smartbomb effect, lost my first tackle frigate to friendly torps.

Privateers, when high sec was a giant free for all.

10 man nano recon gangs , hunting null sec belts ratting battleships and brick tanked Drakes.

FW when it first began and 200 man kitchen sink fleets with random cap ships brawled over plexes.

Living in a lowsec mission hub fighting roaming pirate gangs.

Ransom channel invites when caught with your pants down.

Ransoming people to actually end a fight isk postive.

Falloff bonuses and the old Rifter/Tempest

Yep. I have to admit that I miss wardecs. And no, current situation is not exactly good. There are non-deccable corps with over 4K members… old system was a bit too much stacked against small entities but current one makes it so that there are huge entities that are invulnerable to any danger.
