What I mean is that this is basically what their rebuttal comes to. No one can prove that they aren’t alts of elite null-sec REAL PvP mains who have been playing since “before beta.”
They think this is an important distinction for some reason, whereas all we want is to see some semblance of proof that the people giving instruction for how players should play the game, and how CCP should develop it, actually actively play the game even a little tiny bit, and it becomes very much obvious that they don’t, because everything they say is so asinine as it deals specifically with the understanding of baseline game mechanics. Even a tiny sliver of kill board activity would help with this. Even if a person shows like 10 kills and 30 deaths over the course of 8 years, with most of them being to NPCs, that at least shows some semblance of active gameplay. But they don’t even have that.
Do you ever notice how the players most vocally arguing against ganking also make a point to mention how they themselves have never died to gankers? I and many of my PvP friends have most definitely died to gankers (among other similar encounters), and something tells me that these hidden-profile MLG pro champions aren’t better than us at this game as far as PvP matters are concerned.
So why haven’t they died to gankers? They could be lying, of course, but it’s more likely that they simply aren’t actual EVE players.

It’s not about better or worse. It’s about having actual experience of the thing being commented on. For example…I don’t comment on faction warfare PVE, as I have never done any. How can a person reliably comment on how hard or easy ganking is if they have never ganked ? Same goes for actually being ganked. The forum is way too full of people who want to argue what they think is someone else’s experience…yet provide zero evidence that they themselves have first hand experience of said issue.
When people come on with their super secret alts that have no activity for years…or in some cases, ever at all…the rest of us are thus provided with no evidence that they have actually ever played the game. So what is the source of all these highly opinionated views ?
Really would hope people had learned these last few years that trusting ‘experts’ is an incredibly stupid thing to do.
The appeal to authority or those with ‘real’ experience in a subject is asinine.

We’re all discussing the quiet part you left out: how a person can tell the difference between an idea „being good“ and „being bad“. For some that does involve appeal to experience and/or establishing personal credibility, in order to evaluate merits of the arguments.
Perhaps you should be less abrasive, and take your own advice as earnestly as you expect others to.
Just following the tones I see on these forums. A lot of people here could be less abrasive.
