What is Causing EVE to Die?

They’ll never learn to PvP by running away every time they can’t hide in a 150 man fleet. If ‘Eve is dying’ its because people are bored. And if people are bored its because they’re increasingly learning to avoid risk.

Do you think these people are incapable of learning?

I 100% agree…but the current system was supposedly introduced to protect small corps from being massacred by larger ones. There was never any ‘need’ for structures to be linked to that. Rather, they should have made wardecs dependent in some way upon corp size…with a corp over a certain size not being able to wardec a corp under a certain size. Or something like that.

I’ve been thinking wardecs should be player vs player, rather than vs a corporation or alliance. So one player could wardec another player. Neither player would be burdened by blobs, or bored to death by endless station timers, and this would effectively be a prolonged duel between the two players. Each side could seek allies, but each ally would have to pay an additional fee to join the fight.

This would encourage small group play, and refocus the wardecs on spaceships, rather than structures.

That would be true if every carebear remained a carebear, but a certain portion make the move to PvP thus demonstrating that others can too.

Well I can only speak from my own experience. Certainly I manage the risk, but equally I am increasingly taking more risk as I get more skilled. It is in no way ‘cowardly’ to weigh up the risk and know I will get slaughtered and avoid the fight…to me that is just common sense. There’s no point losing a ship just for the sake of it. On the other hand, I am increasingly trying to punch up rather than punch down.

Wars were convenient, your prey came to you.

Corp hopping was annoying. Why join a corp in the first place for community and joint game play then drop it at the first sign of aggression. It says a lot about the player to begin with. Corp member should defend the corp they choose to join. Joining for the benefits and then jumping ship when there’s an aggressor is just in bad taste.

There are solutions. Just to throw it out there, here’s a few.

-Corps over 25 members should be war eligible.
-Corps with a net worth of Xb isk in corporation assets should be war eligible
-It should cost a corp member a fee to drop from a corp at war, payable to the corp wallet…say 500mil isk? More if they hold roles (I’d say payable to the deccing corp but then that would just be used to isk farm noobs)
-A limit of 5 (just throwing out a number) of active war decs for any corp at a time. Dec wisely.
-An increase in the cost to dec a corp, particularly small corps like it is for large corps/alliances (for example, for a 2-300 toon merc alliance to dec a small, 30 toon corp should be really expensive, but cheaper for a 30 toon corp to dec a 300 toon alliance/corp, etc. Cost should be based on member ratio: 10x’s the members, 10x’s the cost)
-War decs cannot be continued past the duration of the original dec and a longer cool-off period afterwards at the end of a dec, the cost to initiate the dec is dispersed between the aggressor and defender based on kills or perhaps a percentage of the ship loss for the defender (if they are actively engaged). This way, even the looser of the war stands to gain something for defending.

That’s just a few examples of things they could consider to fix it. I’ve actually put a considerable amount of thought into it (not demonstrated here), but it would seem a waste of my time to map it all out as CCP would likely not listen anyways and no matter how you do something, someone is always going to disagree. Pandering to whiners has become the norm these days. I got good and skilled myself, both in SP and actual game-play skill because of war decs on my corps as a noob. One of my first wars was against Marmite…and I fought. Fought and lost…but fought never the less…and earned respect and got better because of it. You cannot grow and progress without adversity. This has been taken away and broken further.

Players don’t want to fight for their corps because they don’t care about their corps. It’s trivial to make the argument that they do, but abandon them at the first sign of adversity. They want the reward without the risk. Those who cannot or will not defend their interests or what they have do not deserve to have it nor should they be immune from recourse.

TL;DR - There are solutions to the broken mechanics, if only players and CCP were willing to take the time to address and fix them.

Here’s one.

How about stop whining because players aren’t jumping in a barrel for you to shoot them and learn to work for your kills. Next time you call someone a carebear, look in the mirror.

Grow up Epeen and read it. Comprehension goes a long way. I want GF’s, not fish in a barrel. People to engage in the game, not hide behind something they claim to support. You always have a comment, but offer no solution. The discussion was about broken mechanics, not the “kills I want personally”. Nowhere in that post did I ever say that. Lived in Null, low, WH, HS…I like the hunt, not blobs, camps, hub sitting. So much to say from a forum alt with no KB hiding their main. Typical internet troll.

Zaera formed her own corp for her and her alts, purpose death and destruction.

Exactly . My corp is 3 people that wants GF’s.

Neither of us did it to benefit from other players but run off when challenged.

What about the dying part? Aking for a friend?

Ask your friend to contact CCP and ask them. That’s who I got that quote from.

The same “quote” where CCP said numbers were growing too fast and killed the game?

Edit; Asking for another friend.

Would you like a link so you can ask them yourself, or are you just going to keep annoying me with these questions?

Mr Epeen :sunglasses:

Yes, I will as long as you keep annoying me with your questions about how CCP killed their own game.

You are making no sense. Get back to me when you sober up.

Mr Epeen :sunglasses:

Try that yourself!
