What is current state of highsec ganking?

I don’t think ganking needs any change but I think anti-ganking needs a recognised game role. Gankers have a target , vulnerable pilots, an objective to kill ship and take cargo.
Whereas anti-ganking has no game incentive other than stopping gankers , something like loyalty points would be nice .

Ganking is hard and so is anti-ganking they don’t need changing from a game mechanic point of view.

One thing I thought about was why watch Hek miners the other day getting hassled by gankers , they stuck together they had defence fleet up , I thought this is how eve should be played , now if the defence fleet got a reward from within game a bit like the AIR training idea . Maybe even freighter that has a webbing scout gets something as well it would encourage people to do some of these roles in eve, even give gankers a rewarded for taking part in a successful gank.
Not game changing isk but recognition for a task, it’s up to miners to give isk to combat pilots if they want it , it’s up to gank commander’s to share the loot.

Do you have any idea how pathetic you sound?

You don’t deserve rewards for failing.

If you don’t want to do it - then just stop!

You aren’t any good at it anyways, it’s no loss.

Well I could have agreed with that, however the reason that anti-ganking is not existant right now is mainly and mostly the fact that ganking has been (indirectly) nerfed and less players do it. Plus additionally, and that is also another issue why is ganking on decline, less players are playing the game, so if you would want to effectively stop a multibox-fleet gank you would have to multibox anti-gank fleet yourself, because you will hardly find any player willing to do this with you from exact same reasons that we, gankers, can’t find other players willing to do it with us. (very boring activity where 90% of the time before ganks you do nothing but chat with others at best and you just wait till the guy with cargo scan finds someone.) And since gankers now waits longer before some lazy player worth to gank shows up, anti-gankers also needs to wait longer to attempt to stop the gank.

And while the multiboxing requirement on our part is viewed as our incompetence to find friends and as such it only serves us right that we must multibox it a pay additional accounts, wanting AG to multibox is again unreasonable expectation and they should be able to do it alone without any friends. //can you see that hypocrisy?

Plus, lets be honest here. Anti-ganking was never a role, it was just kill mails whoring. Those ships are gonna die anyway, the only impact you can do is perhaps saving the victim, which wasn’t even a goal of most AGs that I watched or interacted with in Uedama/Sivala. (I was doing that too in the beginning btw, after I get my revenge on Jason Kusion by killing his DST loot alt and juicy 6bil pod I got satisfied with that and moved on.)

CONCORD response and guaranteed death of the gankers is the primary reason why AG is not a role or a cariier choice.

Absence of rewards of course, too, but if miner ganking could be isk negative then why anti-.ganking couldn’t be? If you like this content you shouldn’t care that is it isk negative. Since I came back I spent 3bil on ganking and obtained 0 ISK with it. Why AGs require this to be ISK profitable to do it? If they want profit, maybe they should gank themselves, you know it is so easy, cheap and highest ISK/hour activity in the whole game.

And it is not like you cannot earn anything. If you give up on a loot stealing battle with ganker because of reasons. You can still make it a service - we will obstruct the gankers who are harassing you all in this missioning sector and you will pay us. I was once hired to protect moon belt by ganking or bumping if I can’t kill them, neutral miners. I bet that if miner ganking as actually a thing, which it isn’t anymore, they would pay you to protect them against gankers. But that would require effort, and of course most miners doesn’t care about being ganked and even if they would care, paying anything to anyone to not be ganked is against their policy - that is unreasonable because they should be allowed to mine in perfect safety to begin with. Likewise with hauling pilots, they will not want to pay for protection mainly because the profit is low enough already, if they paid you per each jump then they earn nothing.

But Githany, why would you want anything more than to be adrmired by your one and only fangirl, @Zaera_Keena ?

Good point , that’s why I do it hehe

You made a lot of points in your reply some valid ones indeed . But you’re missing the point, we don’t do what we do for isk , you talk a lot about isk , which is absolutely fine ,if your an isk per hour type of player then no you can’t do AG type stuff in eve. If you can’t see beyond the isk then I’m sure I can’t get you to understand.

But having said that since I started hunting criminals and standing up to gankers I’ve never had access to so much isk , that’s been donated to us from supporters .

We have training programmes that help people get into our corp fleets and we alway cater for alpha’s or low skilled players. Most of us do a bit of pve solo or in a groups.

So these days if you ask me what I do in eve and why do I play , I’d say me and my group hunt criminals , if someone is anywhere in eve and has a killright on them they are our targets , it was there choice to commit a criminal act , my choice to hunt them, if we can help someone that’s being attacked for no real reason ( like war Dec grief type thing)we will help if we can .

If criminal content is low we do other stuff or try to stimulate or create our own content, some works some doesn’t .
Read my Abyssal post , we do Abyssal stuff as a corp so why not stop the criminal types taking our loot, if we did mining ops we would try and stop criminals ganking our ships .

In the end it comes down to the fact that I don’t like being an arshat to people for the hell of it , lucky for me , the game has many arshats flying around so plenty of targets to pick from. I choose to play eve this way and that also fits in with my time available,

And that is classic AG thinking, of course he is not going to get that. Very well said.

Why are we still on this merry-go-round? and 'round and 'round we go again. Can only guess who will be replying to Dracvlad’s comment next.

Never spoken to that guy before so it’s ok to reply, just because your been here a long time and remember what we have all said time and again. But new people here don’t know

I can’t work out whose alt you are, you sort of act like one of the players running Aiko, perhaps you are even Destiny, but you could also be another player.

He tells me that I have spoken to him before, but I don’t remember him, must have lost his name in the cloud of people all yelling inanely that I want to end all ganking because balance threatens their playstyle…

This guy throws insults in the same way that Australian Excellence does, the way he uses dumb is the same, I suspect it is him, but of course it is difficult as there is not much to go on, but it fits with the last time I think I had an exchange with that one, or at least I think so.

Most gankers don’t get why people AG, so it is good for people like Githany Red to explain it for those that don’t know. I don’t know why this would upset you, perhaps you can explain your feelings on this?

In another thread he was suggesting that ganking barges and exhumers should enable him to be able to afford the plex to gank them, that was a ridiculous suggestion, I know that this is part of the calculation in freighter ganking and one of the reasons for the decline is the cost of subs and the cost of plex, something I am very happy with by the way because I want freighters to be ganked by fleets of people not alts.

This will happen because after a while as people will start moving bigger loads and the circle will start again. But the reduction in real targets is real and one of the main reasons why excessive multi-boxing players are struggling. As I said I am happy with this.

@ Dracvlad
I would edit the top paragraph of your last as to even place a true blue Frostpacker in the same station together would be rather insulting to those other two you had mentioned,

Well many of your posts actually made me laugh, it was a pity however that you went with this type of attack post: And I have seen a few pointers that made me think that, Eve is a game of alts and I know that Destiny has a huge number of accounts and forum alts. Why would I remove that, do I think that people would think less of me for wondering this? Even if I am wrong, and it looks like I am.

I have no interest in replying directly any more to Vokan Excellence or whoever he is, his arguments suck.

NB On reflection, I sort of get why you said that, because I do attract gankers alts like flies to shite, perhaps I am being a bit mean to you, so sorry for that.

I still can’t place you on which corner of a highsec triangle of (Ganking/Antiganking/Wardec) you would be on and I really want to take what you share with us and learn from it. Yet there are times when I just have to think is he being sarcastic with his comment here today or is he actually in agreement with what was said.

Why not all of them? :upside_down_face:

I have clearly stated my position numerous times, to recap, I believe that war decs and hisec ganking are part of the game and my position on both of these is to deal with balance, in terms of war decs the issue is the blanket war decs. With ganking it is the excessive multi-boxing that made ganking of freighters a single player thing rather than a fleet activity with other players which by its very nature would make it more difficult, but then again more rewarding.

Anti-Ganking fleet play was nerfed by the RR change to criminal based on limited engagement flags. Anti-Ganking hunting was nerfed due to tethering. I am looking for CCP to look at these because I can tell you that these are the main reason I no longer AG apart from when I am moving stuff around myself, then it is just targets of opportunity. There are somethings that could be improved to balance it better, I think the use of Catalysts makes freighter ganking too cheap and makes the max load value too low at 1bn, that is an issue, but I think ganking as a whole is in a roughly good spot atm. (Best to be clear on that as Etch will get confused.)

I have been involved in offensive and defensive war decs and I have always enjoyed them, we destroyed an End of Life Leshak fleet in one which I really enjoyed, it was my fitted ships flown by someone else that did the main tackle, I was in logi  And we have also destroyed several war HQ’s.

Did that help?

Who knows?

NB:

Is that really necessary? To answer your question I am not poor, however if inflation really kicks in, which it will as it is all front in producer inflation based on deliberate policy choices on energy and other key staples, then I will become poor, but when that happens I think I will have more to worry about then paying my Eve subs…, :stuck_out_tongue:

Blanket war decs I am opposed also, it happens though I much rather see that on a smaller scale once Faction Warfare begins with what was said at fanfest where players on one faction can fight and attack anyone anywere on the other faction even inside highsec.

You pick a side and you fight for that side like faction warefare.

With the mutibox ganking, it will always be a requirement for that level of gameplay to be able to satisfy the taste of having able pilots docked up and waiting for the scouts in today’s busy time frame. Like a raid night, how many will show up and not make up some lame excuse about why the cat needs another grilled cheese and tomatto toasted sandwich when every cat owner out there knows that tomatto contains solanine which is poisonous to cats yet pilots will still try to palm that excuse off. So multiboxing must stay and should not be even frowned upon.

Ahh antiganking got nerfed? Rubbish, run another remote scan script and multibox on a gate the same way a ganker can sit under the gate using the same support.

The freighters who are ganked it had been shown many times before that they are careless and jump through systems un protected showing just how greedy they can get or perhaps the risk is just too small to be able to jump billions of value in assets though highsec. The risk is too small and that is why the catalysts is use to add balance.

Wardecs, really has it’s own topic and lastly in a way I felt it was necessary and somehow we need to understand that I am Frostpacker. I do not care or should I care what happens outside of the the actual game as I am always trying to stay in character even on the forums or in game.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

Your comments about multi-box ganking and busy time scale, why is that any different for targets of opportunity in other space and getting on a Titan or BLOP’s hoping that enough people come so they can do it? Why does ganking have to be different to every other target of opportunity. Excessive multi-boxing is dying with the real price increase and the increase in plex, good riddance.

For example I find it embarrassing that so many people are oblivious to the impact of those AG nerfs on player interaction in that playstyle and down play them by declaring them rubbish or not nerfs. But that removed a large number of players and made fleet play irrelevant…

Your statements about unprotected, what do you mean by protection exactly? In any case Catalysts enable 1bn worth of cargo being worthwhile ganking and that is too low in my opinion, the right amount is 4bn.

No, it was not necessary to call me into that thread like that and to be an ass about it to boot.

Consistency indeed…?

The triangle is a very limited way of viewing the world, pidgeonholing capsuleers. Some of us as are free spirits, refusing to be labelled, at times we gank, sometimes we get ganked, we are wardec’ed but also wardec.
