No. Not sure if I will ever come back but just in case I do I’ll keep my stuff.

No. Sorry Princess. I’m not fooled. A v quick glance at your killboard tells me a lot. Good luck though. Enjoy the ganking.
From a social-economic point of view the MMO is more about the players socializing and grinding, and PvP in all forms is action and skill oriented and more conflict inducing, so those two kinda negate themselves when thrown together, there is potential for cooperation, but its quickly destroyed by backstabbing and trust issues. The separate fields (separate system security rules) that only sometimes cross into themselves are whats keeping EVE alive still, but with less and less focus on the PvE and by not having a tiered PvP system alternative in game, the offer is looking really poor for the $20 a month, for a game you are supposed to play forever. PLEXing account is becoming unsustainable as there is even more competition now.
Next stop is 11 k max daily peak activity.
CCP asked the players what they wanted a few times, then started doing that. But this only works with a homogeneous group and EVE Online has a weird select group of completely opposing playerstyles in so many ways.
People complained about the graphics quality, some people care about that so CCP complied and made many changes. Some of those changes made a few people no longer able to use their second slow PC, statistically it was a low number, however it affected 'the same person" who might have used that old PC for his scout character. The issue is taht so many people play it in so diverse ways that almost anything they do will make 50% happy and 50% angry. Each change brings risk and CCP keeps making changes hoping that one day that one change they make will “fix it”, whatever “it” is.
What do I like about EVE Online? Being skilled enough to pwn the ore belt rats without having to warp back to station. I have been mining Veldspar (and other ores but mostly Veldspar) since 2006. Don’t call me “The King of Veldspar” because people would confuse me with Chribba (and his famous Veldnaught), who still plays on an alt. And this is something special about EVE Online, what people do matter.
We are -I think- one gaming-generation later, many old people left and new people joined up but CCP starts to realize that they want to keep the old guys around while retaining more of the fresh new players. And that act of equilibrium is near impossible.
So in short, so much happened between 2004 (I started in 2006 but had a lot of talks about the 2 year history of EVE when I entered in 2006 because I was delusional to assume the head start those people who joined in 2004 had mattered) and 2022 that drove people out and back in and out again over and over that I cant’ possible go over every change and their effects on the game.
EVE Online is like a business simulator. You can do whatever you want yet will have quite a struggle and need to learn a lot. There is no ‘good way’ nor ‘shortcut’ to ‘winning the game’. There is no speedrun, you need to learn, adapt and overcome.
I think the biggest issue with EVE Online is people giving up to get people back in and get them to a good player group that can nurture them to become an adult EVE Online player. From the (only) 20 people I lured into EVE Online, 3 still actively play the game. It’s a nuisance to keep motivating them to keep going and easier to just say “ok, if the change of the color of x or y is bothering you so much, end your sub and gtfo.”. This also shows that those who appear toxic to the “EVE Online pilots that will use the forums as an airport to announce their departure” are just tired of trying to keep people in. Is it the best reaction? No, it’s not professional but it does give a release as if that player really goes someone else doesn’t need to deal with the constant whining about how some random change is so difficult and the continuous “Oh no, did you read about that upcoming change!..” . Yes, the players have changed because our environments might have changed too. The game didn’t change much, some new stuff has been added over the years though.
Changes, changes, changes… Its obvious that they cant keep eve at the 2003 year graphics, when people compters are probably in 99% unusable from that time period. So graphical changes had to be made few times. At lkeast to keep up with software compatibility, but also being attractive to new players with fairly new computers and systems. So thats obvious that thay had to change it, and its not a big issue really when you have space game, without walking in stations, even without Captain quarters. The space is fairly empty already anyway…
The gameplay and social aspect is what people would stay for tho. If they can do fleet any day of the week and do stuff together that needs cooperation and is providing sustainable amount of in game money and positive emotion for people to want to log in next day, then its good. Usually its not PvP, as we have seen across the board, because its not always sunshine and cookies then, and people tend to break out of that scenario. Poorer scenarios but more available are those when you play solo gameplay, always available for pick up, and here PvP also doesnt shine for most people playing EVE, it is expensive and not providing enough good vibes as an activity, its stressfull, you will swear more than you like, you will be left with sweaty armpits in a lot of fresh clones, while successes will be sparse, sounds more like masochism. No pain, no gain, but people want cakes, and they will take cakes that dont need making 40 pushups before eating it.
The situation cant be changed by CCP, they are incapable. The game will stay like that untill its 5k players peak activity, then I dont know what will happen… Probably nothing good.
i like hard cakes
to be fair i like Hardtack
full of bugs
nothing like picking my cruiser , with my knife in the mouth
and willingly face a whole fleet by myself
Offcourse, I did not say they should not have done it, I say there were consequences of that. And with they few people the gained/kept, they lost a few. Not sure what the numbers exactly are but in the long run most changes did not get the intended result if the intended result was to increase playerbase.
The changes were cosmetic, like refurnishing a room in a house.
Nothing fundamental. Fundamental setting of gameplay and systems made EVE playerbase and CCP will not remove fundaments as they will remove people who are inside. They will not even make more servers with other rules, they will not make every system watched by concord, they will not reduce drop to 0, they will not make pvp consentual. They dont know how to replace fundaments and not make at least half of current inhibitants angry during that. They cant now remove inhibitants to experiment with more rooms, they can only add more rooms or make people move from one to another, but the paintings will be diferent. If the inhibitants will remove themselves, we can see more experimenting with fundaments that in long run didnt keep the weight of the inhibitants inside.
That’s exactly what I did this month!
I subbed for one month of Obi Wan. Loki. Mandalorian and Boba Fett.
at 8.99 that’s a pretty good deal!
Chribba was a legend in 2010 when I started, he still plays?? I have yet to spot the Veldnaught!!
I think he wanted to play without the “heavy shoulders” required to ‘larp’ the character he created. You can still follow his twitter, he is active there: https://twitter.com/chribba
Most of it, yes, but the actual subsystem hardware was replaced many times, including their networking hardware. A lot of sofware things were added like ships, spacestations, new mission types… Jita even recently was made into an awesome cyberpunk city.
And also, they have struggled with the interface since it’s inception. It’s… special but I don’t know how it can be changed. And NO, CCP Hellmar VR does not solve the problem.
They did not destroy (replace it by a default one?) my computer’s boot.ini anymore, so that’s a good thing.
It’s been so many years, I probably forgot about thousands upon thousands of changes that did make the game better but it didn’t make a big enough change for me to mention it now.
From my point of view its cosmetic game change and rarely seen effect of it, even when its just the pillar in lower room that makes upper floor not fall down with all the guests. Its there, its ok, but it doesnt take part in everyday life and everyday happenings. Its there for special occasions only and house would not break if you would keep lower limit on parties on upper floor.
Its like paintings and furniture, missions are like a solitaire that you play again and again, all the same, ship is like a pair of socks or some fancy pants or dress, station is like a room with cupboards and boxes. Kitchen is where you make stuff to consume, its your athanor.
I think toilet is forum.
There is no bathroom tho. We cant take baths or showers in game, so I think it remains not accessible, like CQ.
But we have a toilet so I’m okay with that.
Also I do agree on how you compare it now.
Wait…… coming from a alliance who basically camps the undock at every trade hub in eve all day long? At least 95% of the time we at Blackflag will allow the target to warp off the undock. Most of RIOT kills are nothing but that. So don’t go lecturing about us destroying stations.
FYI,
They “RIOT” also destroy stations and forces corps to pay ransoms. The same alliance that Destiny is in. Maybe he is calling himself a basement dwelling virgin?
He is just really upset they lost 30 wars when we popped their warHQ. He almost took it personal as now they get shoot/alpha less noob ships on the Amarr/Dodi/Hek undocks.
We focus around caldari space… they have free reign everywhere else.
Oh you might be able to fool the normal gazelle grazing out there or even the odd water buffalo though you’re no big cat lioness… you are a Jackal, a golden one at that!

War [Pandemic Horde vs Original Killers]
I prefer Star+, Disney+ is too childish.
Yesterday I took 2 omegas I did not pay and got a Jack Tennessee Apple, damn good choice.
Apparently the sky is falling down. Now if it could just land on those gankers in Isanamo I can finally go collect my heavy neutron blasters.
See how easy it is to troll them? They are absolutely joyless people, and are completely incapable of understanding jokes and detecting sarcasm.
