I have had alts living in wormhole space for roughly 15 years, while posting here on my nullsec main.
At this point, I think wormhole space has become massively over-connected.
Today my small C4 setup has six outgoing wormholes. Six. And that is before waiting for incoming K162s to appear.
For a large wormhole group this is probably considered “content”. You have dozens or hundreds of members, people scanning the chain, scouts updating the mapper, and by the time your PvP pilots log in during prime time they can just undock and follow the breadcrumbs.
For a small group, it means work.
I do not have twenty new corp members whose job is to scan six connections and the chains behind them so I can log in later and enjoy PvP. If I want to know what is around me, I have to scan it myself, map it myself and keep track of it myself.
More connections do not automatically mean more content. At some point they just mean more maintenance.
And in my opinion this goes together with another problem: small-scale wormhole PvP is nearly dead.
Years ago, living out of POSes naturally limited how large and open many wormhole corporations became. Access and security were a real issue, so you generally did not invite hundreds of random people into your corporation.
Citadels changed that.
Now wormhole corporations can organize hundreds of characters and members with far less internal access risk, and the result is that more and more encounters look like organized fleets rather than small groups fighting whatever happens to be nearby.
These days it feels rare to meet anyone with fewer than seven people once an actual fight starts.
If people want large-scale N+1, F1-style fleet PvP, nullsec already does that extremely well. That is where that gameplay belongs.
Wormhole space should offer something different.
I would go in the opposite direction from the constant connectivity increases:
C4, C5 and C6 space should not have direct K-space connections at all.
Getting assets, fuel and especially blue loot in and out of high-class wormhole space should be difficult. That isolation should be part of the price you pay for living there.
And C5/C6 space in particular needs to be shaken up.
Right now high-class space allows enormous amounts of wealth generation through farm holes and farming alts, while a small number of very large organizations have the manpower and infrastructure to dominate much of the ecosystem around it.
That is not healthy for wormhole space.
High-class wormholes should be dangerous not only while running sites, but also when trying to extract the wealth you generate there. Moving trillions of ISK worth of blue loot should involve meaningful logistics and risk, not conveniently waiting for a favorable K-space connection.
Reduce connectivity.
Remove direct K-space connections from C4-C6.
Make high-class logistics harder.
Make C5/C6 farming harder to industrialize at massive scale.
And give small wormhole groups some room to exist again without every chain eventually turning into another N+1 fleet environment.
Wormhole space does not need to become nullsec without local.
