I guess i love that theres no cheats.

Your mothership wont get stolen by a crack in the code and pilots swapped or ejected by such a cheat. The enemy doesnt have a headshot bot making your ship get wrecking shots on every hit.

Is it due to the unique engine eve runs on?

One could just imagine getting remotely popped by someone and loot from your wreck getting transferred to their hangars in their station… but that just doesnt happen…

Or…maybe im completely wrong?

…still waiting for that sweet EVE Online 2.0 experience i once had.

EVE is unique because it remains true to the genre to this day. Space is complicated. Economies are complicated. Space economies are even more complicated.

No other game even attempts to capture the heart of space epics. They go for pretty, they go for safe, they go for nickle and diming for every bit they can siphon. They are cash grabs.

Eve is a true science fiction sandbox game. Eve was ahead of its time and remains ahead of the video game industry. Some might say it’s behind, but those people are also the ones that want world of warcraft but with space ships. So, they don’t matter.

Sort of. EVE is server authoritative, ie all the game code runs on the server and the client is basically just a display and control interface. The positives are that you can’t just use cheats like that, but the negatives include latency, which make the game feel very sluggish compared to the more instant feedback you expect in other games (not helped by EVE’s server using one second ticks, which to my knowledge is pretty unique, and not a good thing).

In my mind that is a huge positive since i trash every game that gets infested with cheats. FPS games mostly. I dont want people to just download a cheat from internet and be able to do things to me at their will.

When i get bored of reporting them, that is the point when it sees the bin. Which is pretty much any game with their first wave of cheats that appear downloadable…which again, is pretty much every game.

Not many games that i dare to play anymore, i tend to get pretty angry at these cheaters as well, and it gets expensive, buying good mouses and keyboards is costly these days.

Does that mean that its invulnerable to ESP aswell?

Bro, I don’t think you understand it very well.

EVE is full of bots, actually EVE is the easiest game to bot.

What she was saying, EVE is invulnerable to memory manipulation, that’s why EVE does not need EASY anti-cheat and stuff.

I think you got too excited for no reason, EVE players don’t need to cheat to kill you, they have an entire fleet to do so. You never gonna find a fair fight around, the no cheating is almost irrelevant.

I had to google that. Wallhacks? That’s not really applicable to EVE, and in the sense of ”peek into the next room of a deadspace” we have dscan.

I mean for example to see the cargo of a ship by using ESP. Like you can see stored loot in many online multiplayer survival games.

Im not looking for a fair fight, isnt that also stupid?..not being sure you can win the battle, unless ofcourse its meant to be uncertain. Also im well aware of botting. That aint cheating in the way that you can do in pretty much in every other online game. But in those you can do botting aswell.

In eve you can have a fleet and even bigger fleet, and backup of backups for those fleets, and thats one of the great things in it. Who dares to extend furthest.

Anti-cheat doesnt work, it has no future except for developers paying big money to them for their promises, infinitely patching new holes in the system, and never being bulletproof.

I would start gaming completely fresh from the fiber era that were now deep into and make it fully streaming based, just like movies and music already are. Bye bye most cheats for every game. And no, gamers on other platforms outside of streaming are not welcomed or to be mixed together. Also you could basically play cyberpunk 2077 on your old smartphone if it has the bandwith required for streaming that. So bye bye hardwire requirements for gaming.

There are things like cargo and ship scanners for this as targeted scanning weapons to ascertain ship fits and cargo values.

Tbh, the “ESP” like assets that make Eve a bit of a drag are the 3rd party intel machines that print data to be crunched, used and sold. Take “Evekillboard.” That is the top used eve killboard out there. Squizz is a great guy yet imagine the data that can be crunched; from users actual IP addresses, to linking accounts to one another, etc. It is a veritable treasure trove of information. Most, if not all 3rd party tools, can do this extremely well. That information is absolutely more valuable to parties that wish to have intel tools that operate behind the scenes. That, to me, is the ultimate “pay to win” machine of Eve online.

@Morajsakom_Sr honest answer to your question, I don’t believe so, it would be a blunder to make it available to all game clients the content of your ship.

There’s a scan module in game, and like Anna said, the correct implementation is to ask the server, only your game client needs to receive the content of your ship. If they loaded on all game clients they did for pure stupidity, it’s not only hackable (memory scannable) but also a bandwidth waste. I really don’t think they did it.

If you have these kind of concerns about cheats using memory scan, rest assured EVE is not susceptible, unless some dev ■■■■ up for good, there’s no need for any client authoritative code in this game.

@Anna_Dyneaux why do you need a faster tick? What in EVE needs faster response? It’s an online spreadsheet with animations… Ticking the server 1s is saving computational power. The other threads are being used for better stuff. The consolidation window being 1s or 200ms, from my PoV, is complete irrelevant to the game.

Yeah, sometimes it lags, but who cares? It’s not an action game. I fail to see your point.

You don’t need to stick yourself to MMOs, there are other games out there. Come try TF2, HL, HL2, Helldivers 2, Halo, Long Live the Queen, FLT: Faster than Flight, Black mesa and more. I’m sure there are good Xbox360 or Nintendo switch games, but I’ll assume extra hardware is off the table. This kind of reminds me that Scholastic beat marvel and DC comic sales like 30 to 1 in the past decade because while those 2 make a lot of superhero comics and plenty of people do love superheros, it turns out there is the market for other genres.

But that has nothing to do with things like injecting code clientside, and/or lag switching.

I cant see that either as cheating or pay2win. It may look like that in the bigger picture, as you could harness that data big time. But its the same as its with stocks, big players there have accumulated a lot of knowledge and can play it big, just like in eve, and that extra information is kept well hidden for obvious reasons whatever it might be. Its just the same kind of “pay2win” irl. He who can predict things better, comes on top, with or without using tools to do it.

EVE already has a p2w system that you can use to buy a titan and skill up a pilot for it if you so wish and have a pocket for it. Or a fleet of them, or more.

but do they really?

You can whale all you want, and a couple of guys in much cheaper ships can come give you a ticket to the white light train home. You can inject all the skills in the game to 5 and all the specs to 5 and not know about feathering or why people dont fly straight at a target.

There is a pay feature yes, but the only win feature comes from your own knowledge and probably help from allies.

I just got the news: SWTOR is getting some major updates from Frostbite 3 and DX12.

It’s a shame it’s not a full migration to FB3, but it’s hope. Maybe fools hope.

When this p2w thing can be applied to the already skillful/massive entities in the game, then yes, its just that.

Its not that p2w is the main game, its knowing that it can be harnessed at any time to the extreme, by anyone. Be it an individual or the largest coalition.

Yes, CCP would profit hard if a bunch of people decides to purchase that 80k PLEX from under the counter…which is the (daily?monthly?) limit.

If youre poor irl, but rich in eve…even massively so, you still dont want to go in a long war inside the game. You gotta know your enemy irl when the game has p2w features. The other can extend their e-peen with irl money all they want and the other simply cant. Or does CCP come to save the poor if that happens?

Or is it a boo-hoo thing?

It’s not the same as p2w because you can wallet up all the fancy skills and ships you like, but money will not make you good at the game, and you can test this out by flying an expensive battleship through null at any time, and get minced by poors in catalysts.

Almost like youre noob proofing my message here. This game aint played solo most of the times unless you want to torture yourself. Its mostly about 100+ man corporations and alliances all the way up to 1000+ man coalitions.

I torture myself, can confirm. One char is like a crusade in EVE. I like it, keeps my honest.
