Where is the Crimson Harvest content hiding? (solved)

o7

I’ve been flying around in my Buzzard for over an hour in high-sec looking for event sites.
I was searching specifically for exploration event sites. I was on the “wrong side” last time, so this year I wanted to figure out which side actually has the most content before deciding where to commit.

After an hour of flying, here’s what I’ve found:

  • Tetrimon Combat Sites: 4

  • Cybernetic Incident Sites (Tier 2): 5

  • Cybernetic Incident Sites (Tier 1): 3

  • Tetrimon Network Node (Exploration): 1

That’s one exploration site in over an hour.

So the serious question is: where is the content hiding?
Flying around endlessly and only finding a single hacking site which then gets immediately warped to by another player who’s also starved for options isn’t really engaging.

Why is the content spread so thin?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to reduce the rewards but increase the amount of activity available?

Or am I supposed to go into null-sec for that?
You guys know that’s where all the big corps are sitting.
If it’s meant to be an event for everyone, why make the content so scarce?

I really want to play your game, but it feels like you either have to create your own content, or there’s simply nothing left to do.
The content that’s actually offered as part of the event seems deliberately thin.
Or am I just looking in completely the wrong place?

Is the real expectation that I should be 60 jumps away from trade hubs like Jita just to find some event sites?

All the best and o7

edit: solved
I jumped 50 jumps away from Jita.

Problem exists between chair and keyboard.

I’m 8 jumps from Amarr, never left highsec, and have seen more than that just getting to where I’m at.

Try not to blame the game or devs for you flying in circles.

I was not flying in a circle.
But well I got it. “Different time, different place”.
Thank you for your response.

Ive got the same problem.
I fitted a Tormentor just for the Scale 1 biogenetic incident sites, but i cant find any over large timespans.

Sure we are all flying in circles but its the space we inhabit normally.
It seem very periodic that event sites appear, and then mostly the gauntlet type, sometimes scale 2.

But hey, im not giving up!

(One thing that is rather anoying in this; when someone else warps into the event site but notices its already being actively engaged, and warps off, the event says there are no ships in the circle and fails.. happened twice, when i actually was able to find scale 1 sites).

(Not a complaint! just something i noticed).

Can you yourself not then warp away and warp back to make it “see” you again?

I might, but i am not so experienced with the Crimson Harvest event, so it took a while to notice exactly what happened.
My weapon skills are low, so i need my forcus on not dying lol
But i managed to complete one just now.

It helps to keep the opportunities window open while traveling, so You can see whats in adjacent systems.

That helped a lot.
Still mostly seeing gauntlet and biogenetic site scale 2.
I tried a gauntlett also, but lost almost all my light drones at the entrance, while the rest of my drones were in severely bad shape after fighting off the gang at the entrance.
Ok, i learned.. dont warp in on 0, lol

I went around in a jackdaw i purchased for scale 3`s, but never found any.

(not interested in low sec.. thats probably why).

Anyway, i`m having fun!

Just takes a very long time to find sites

Not different time, different place. It’s knowing how site spawn mechanics work and using the in-game tools to figure out where the sites are sitting stagnant. When I posted that comment earlier I was in a system 9 jumps from Amarr with 3 Class 1s, 5 Class 2s, 2 of the BC sites, and 5 sigs that I didn’t have probes to identify.

Knowledge is better than luck in Eve, and rage posting where you blame everyone and everything for your lack of both doesn’t get you a lot of support.

Sorry for your confusion. I’m not in “rage”.
I don’t blame anything or anyone. The game is the game.
I just wanted to ask a honest question. If that is already too much nvm.

As for the game. If the game doesn’t suit me, then it just doesn’t suit me and I won’t play it.
That might sound harsh to you, but is it really? How many thousands of games don’t you play because they don’t suit you?
We make decisions every day about what we do with our time.
That’s not rage, that’s not anger, these are simply normal decisions. Decisions that you make yourself.
And the game doesn’t care whether you play it or something else.
Of course, I wasn’t sad then. No, I played something else, and I had a lot of fun.
You played Eve and had fun too.
It’s all good. I was just asking where the content was to possibly play Eve. There was never any requirement to “have to play.”

Maybe at some point I’ll be in the mood to make xx jumps to get to my “event hub,” which I set up for the winter events. I’d just have to bring the appropriate ships there for the current event. Maybe I just don’t feel like it, we’ll see.
So, thanks for your answer, but I guess I don’t see it quite as emotionally as you do.

I have already finished the event of 900/900 points just doing class 2’s in HH. I see 1’s and 2’s all over the place. more around amarr then most.

Oh, thx.
I completed previous events x times over.

I’m talking about the exploration sites not the combat sites. As stated in my first post I found many more combat sites.

Thank you for your insight

The trick with Exploration sites is they tend to gather up in secluded dead end systems that have low / no players traveling in… Use the old Starmap to view system stats, amount of ships active, amount of jumps, etc… And don’t just count on one system, look for similar systems nearby to check and run a small route between them… After clearing those systems on your route with little to no player action, just camp out and wait a bit, usually doesn’t take very long for sites to spawn, maybe like 5 to 10 minutes max…

Can also try looking during a different time slot than you normally do, meaning if you usually log in late afternoon, try evening or late at night or early morning, sometimes just a few hours difference is all that’s needed..

o7 thank you
”tend to gather up in secluded dead end systems” I already assumed that. I think it is very true.

I traveled a little further away (like 50 jumps) and I can find way more sites now.
I also tried a “different time” so no “rush hour”. Yet this is very lame. The game does not have to fit my needs but in that case I just turn away. Strange strategy for a game that wants engagement.
Well I was able to do exploration and the combat stuff. Both was fun.

Still … I think CCP should look into spawning and respawning. I get the idea ‘it’s a universe you have to travel around‘ but is that fun for the weekend warrior?
You could argue that “hiding the fun” is part of the game. But there is no challenge in flying around searching. It’s not like “dwarf fortress fun”.
On the other hand CCP knows best how to attract players. What do I know.
Thank you for your response

Numbers have been stagnant for better than 10 yrs now. But what do I know either.

Event site spawning is sparse for a reason… First of all, the event lasts for 1 month so they need to stretch it out, can’t have everybody completing the event within the first few days…

Secondly, it’s about getting log-in numbers up and keeping them in the game during the event…

I did some 1’s with a Punisher. I would not call them “beginner friendly content”.
Which fit did you use for 2’s? I want to try them too

I logged out and played a different game. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one doing that.
So I’m not sure that sparse content is the way to drive player numbers. But I have no saying in the development of EVE. It does not matter at all what I think.

Eve is tailored to a specific breed of people. There are not that many options to bring in more players.
More content is the only thing that comes to my mind. Yet the game is complicated and is not fun for most people because of that.

Very true. But CCP drove out those players and the growing numbers there were at the time.

CCP decided to cater to the carebear and told their dedicated HTFU playerbase to go f**k ourselves.

So in conclusion:
I moved like 50 jumps away from Jita.
Did a lot of exploration in HS.
Did some class 1 biocyber with my Punisher.
Did some class 2 biocyber with my Retribution.

All of that was fun. Spawn rate of the sites was/is okayish.
CCP could reduce loot and increase spawn rate but it’s okay as it is. I can finish the event with fun.
Thx all
