Where is the palatine?

Honestly, if someone was going to anchor a Palatine in a C1, I could see CCP working some dev magicks to get the core in.

It would still get blapped…

Now imagine a pvp corp living out of C1… as absurd as it sounds xD

Though I could see this with low sec static.

i can’t. not a good pvp group anyway.
the holes have such low total mass allowances, you’d be hard pressed getting anything other than a micro gang out and back, with no battleship DPS…

C2-5/0.0 holes are popular with PvP groups for a reason.

You can get quite a bit through that C1 hole. As long as you stick to cruisers. 20-30 of them just randomly popping in and wrecking havoc in the area. But yes, the mass is quite limiting and the only thing you can get through is medium or small sized. And you better be careful with how many medium sized hulls you move through.

Replacing the one you lost…

Honestly, this pic would look hella better with a ton ships in the sky sieging the hill.

–Gadget will let someone else photoshop that

No offense. To build a Palatine Keepstar is one of the dumbest thing you can do in this game particularly or in any game generally. In my opinion, even discussion about it is just joking. Anyway, we should take into consideration that the game allow players to enjoy any types of game they want: low risk high reward, high risk low reward, very high risk high reward, no risk time consuming, time consuming low reward, time consuming high reward, etc.

Not the mention this case the neverending story with no rewards. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: Building the Palatine is the ScamCitizen equivalent of EVE Online… though without the financial gain aspect. :smirk:

The only reason to build one is pure hubris. And I can only thing of one system you could really build it in where it has a chance of surviving…

C1 WHs are so underrated, and I remain steadfast in my beleif that a corp will build capitals in them. :european_castle: :european_castle: :european_castle:

Someone will succeed.

Yall can take your C6 WH politics and chuck it in the trash lol. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Sure, some people do. But it’s like sending out an invitation for an eviction.

They are underrated indeed. Yet building caps in them is kind of pointless. Even if you ignore it being eviction invitation.

Building caps in low class holes has the distinct advantage for the defenders. A couple of HAW dreads can really put a dent in the attackers plans.
Throw them around outside of an eviction and you risk getting them baited out.

Building them in C2 is fine, but in C1 you will invite people to evict you. At least as far as I know. But you can make battleships. I suppose decently fitted marauders are not much different from dreads when it comes to dealing with smaller ships.

You wot, mate?

Lets look at a triple ancillary shield booster Vargur:
Damage: 2325 paper DPS with Hail
Tank: 5756 EHP/s until you run out of cap boosters.

VS

A HAW Phoenix Navy Issue
Damage: 5852 dps
Tank: 47,785 until you run out of cap boosters.

That’s a big difference. Mind you, it’s a ~20b dread vs a ~2b Marauder.

What missiles do you fit on it? XL won’t apply, and neither will torps. In the context of C1 hole Phoenix is a pure miss. Can’t do anything better that a RHML 'phoon can do - other than tanking, I suppose.

Dude. Do you fly dreads? Comparing a HAW PNI to a RHML Phoon kind of indicates that you do not.
It’s a HAW Rapid Torp fit. It uses regular torps, not XL ones.
PNI has a very tasty bonus to application via paints. When fit properly, a HAW PNI can really rip through subcaps. If you were going to field one of these things, especially in a hole defence situation, you’d have a support fleet dedicated to making it as effective as possible. Webs, Paints, etc.
Maybe go and fly some of these ships before commenting on their capabilities?

Fair enough. You will need a whole fleet to support you - especially to prevent them from outranging you (though the ranges did get nerfed so not sure if it would still be an issue). I suppose with the help of rapiers you could shred cruisers, and sub-cruiser rapiers would do the job.

I admit I don’t fly caps so I lack experience there.

EDIT: This reminds me. With javs you wouldn’t even have to worry about being outranged by any cruisers other than pure projection fit - which suffer from dps.
