Given damage lock, you want em or therm weak resists. Therm weak resists buffs armour making most abyss NPCs about the same overall with tank but also gives you a bit more buffer. Off the top of my head I can’t remember the bonus for em. you might want to change a rig based on which you favour to help with the hole.
Try both, see which you like. Start with calm, work up, I suspect t2 is as high as you can go reliably with an alpha with that fit. But it is nice and cheap so even on t1 will pay for itself fast.
Do EM site since thermal is triglavian primary damage type with exp shortly after and you already don’t have high resists for exp.
Also the extra armor will give you extra trouble against triglavians as they get tankier on top of having great damage speed and remote reps
I’m my experience, the Abyss is just not friendly to alphas and turreted ships. I’ve tried a lot of viable T1 cruiser fits, and missiles + drones is just king, which of course means Gila.
I’ve found you need about minimum 30-40 tracking for turrets with single web to hit some of the fast frigs. Blasters and autocannons can hit these goals. Unfortunately, even medium pulse lasers are usually under 30 tho.
I got a Maller fit that tanks tier 1’s easily, but I’m always cuttin it close at around 18-19 min cause it just has a hard time hitting the small targets. If you have to use lasers, I’d highly recommend an Ashimmu fit with MWD and scorch, so you can keep range farther out and hit easier. It comes in at about 200mil total price, but at that point, it’s getting close to Gila prices…
Here’s a thread for some Alpha fits if you don’t want to use a Gila:
I have two immediate thoughts:
My first is “Calm Electric” improving the punch of your lasers isn’t going to hurt you - you succeed by killing things against the clock not sitting there for twenty minutes tanking damage. And the capacitor recharge bonus really helps Amarrian gun ships.
The second was “that Omen looks like the Zealot I use for Abyssal runs” followed by “oh, it’s got an afterburner!”
The most time consuming part of an Abyssal run is flying to the caches to destroy and loot them - and it’s the loot that gives you income not the kills. These caches can be 60km or more away. So:
Try the fit first just going a kill and escape run with the fit through a Calm Electrical Abyss, don’t get greedy - treat it as learning (knowledge has its own value). Of course if you find there’s a close in cache, go for it - but watch the clock. You’ve gone the right way with resists rather than plate to keep the mass down and speed up - that’s a generally good Omen fit.
Look at fitting a 50MN MWD of some sort of you can - if you are in Electrical Abysses, you may be able to drop the Capacitor Battery - skilling up the two Weapon Upgrades (normal and advanced) will help with fitting space, as will the basic fitting skills if you’ve been a little amiss training them up.
Invest in Navy versions of the frequency crystals: they do about 15% more damage (let’s hurt them, not tickle 'em - speed is of the essence). Carrying a set of Standard crystals is often useful because of their lower capacitor usage. I’m normally just carrying Navy Multifrequency, Navy Standard and Scorch. Also, for the love of God, Take Scorch. It’s his gift to Advanced Pulse turrets.
Those are expensive drones (“he’ll pay for shiny drones and cut corners on ammunition!”). Watch them carefully - a Deviant Automata Suppressor will cause you great unhappiness at 2m ISK a pop. I’ve not needed drones in Calm sites (I normally carry a flight of Acolyte IIs - they are a quarter the cost of Imperial Navy drones).
So saying, that’s a reasonably balanced fit - a little slow for an Omen (the drawbacks on the three armour rigs aren’t going to help the cause - train up Armour Rigging to help there. And carry better crystals and cheaper drones) but it should get you through a Calm Abyssal site. Watch the clock and focus on getting through all three chambers to start with - greed leads to your downfall while gaining knowledge.
It’s been pointed out to me in the past that MTU’s can be used in Abyss, which for some reason I didn’t think about. So for Afterburner fits, you only need to approach the far caches to within weapon range and then let MTU collect loot.
However the MTU/AB setup is still slower than an MWD fit, which has to go all the way to the caches to collect the loot. I’ve tested this out, MWD is just the fastest way to loot entire pocket, so your suggestion for MWD and speed fit is spot on, for lower tier Abyss at least. I haven’t tried MWD fits for higher tiers yet.
Truth. Afterburner fits are just too slow to really take full advantage of Scorch’s awesome optimal range, the small targets just come in too fast to orbit, negating the advantages and playing to the weakness of laser turret tracking. MWD + Scorch allows to buy some much needed range to take advantage of laser’s strength. One downside is that MWD fits tend to be pricier and tighter fits.

Check how much percent you are short, not sure what level implants you can get to but you might be able to cover it with an implant. Don’t go leaving the mid slot empty
Sorry for the delay in replying: timezones and I wanted to look at the fit in game.
OK, I get 45.8 CPU spare (412.5 total - so I’m only using 90% of the capacity) - and only about 75% of the power grid. For reference I also get 332dps from the guns alone (Navy MF) and 13,700ehp tank. It’s not a bad fitting - but I think I can see where your problem is.
What level have you trained the following skills to? CPU Management - this is a 5% bonus per level to CPU amount on a ship. Weapon Upgrades - this reduces the CPU need of the weapons by 5% per level.
Power Grid Management - this is 5% bonus per level to the Power Grid (PG) on a ship. Advanced Weapon Upgrades - this reduces the PG need of the weapons by 5% per level.
There’s other good useful skills - such as the ones around Capacitor Management and usage - which are useful for Amarrian focused characters. I have all four of the above skills at Level 5 (old fogey) which gives me space on my ships to fit them solidly. For example, while I can’t fit the Large Battery (that’s a bit too much) I can fit a Medium Capacitor Booster II which will take a couple of Cap 400 charges - i.e. an “if desperate add capacitor” button.
52m ISK fit. 20m ISK of which are your Imperial Navy Drones (Amarr prices).
