Why antigank?

Low sec permit - 1 billion ISK

About the whole “Concorde is the haulers’ weapon”, there is a point made by CCP or rather ISD:

“You are not safe in 1.0 security space. CONCORD is there to punish, not to protect.”

(Sauce: 8 Golden Rules for EVE Online)

And we all know that Concord can be pulled, etc.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not against ganking. I just find the “Concord” argument is overused and slightly obnoxious.

No they can’t without breaking the rules

Even if they added that more clearly to the Exploit list now, it doesn’t change the fact that Concord is not a defense force. They are just punishers.
They don’t come to the aid of whoever got or is getting ganked. So that argument is completely invalid.
They are just a delayed instablap for people doing stupid stuff in hisec :))
They don’t care if that hauler lives or dies.

Concord execute gankers without trial or jury. Abolish Concord

Greeting, those of here at SDG would like to point out that lumping High Sec Suicide Gankers and those of us who choose to prey upon capsuleers who enter low sec is not very accurate or fair. There are many professions one can pursue in Eve and charging for access can be very lucrative if you have the rep to pull it off, really no different than Null Blocks renting out space to be honest. Not paying the fee just means you will be hunted if YOU choose to enter the Low Sec Space. At the end of the say thats your choice, nobody is forced to play in low sec O7.

Greetings Master Pilot Jim Hammer,

On behalf of Frostpacker, we would like to mention that we really appreciate the time you have shown here today by commenting and would like to show our thanks by adding your pilot @JIm_Hammer to our new eden christmas list.

Please note that list is rather exclusive and you will be rewarded for your efforts and lesson you had taught our pilot earler today.

If the ship is not able to fight back with it’s own weapons, then the act of attacking the freighter or non-combat ship is not considered PvP.

The reason why High Sec Gankers attack freighters is because there is no chance of the freighter being able to foul the gank or defend itself.

High Sec gankers would never last a month in a real PvP zone, such as Faction War. The reason being is there are Pirates, FW members and Hunters in Low Sec all of the time running sites and engaging in PvP.

Matter of fact, last year sometime there was an event, basically a free-for-all in a High Sec system. There were literally around a thousand players in the system. Guess who wasn’t there. Aiko’s group.

Why wouldn’t Aiko’s group not show up for a free-for-all PvP fest?

Are there not two players?

Wouldn’t it be easier to shoot something smaller, or do you think the value of the target may also be a factor?

Better targets elsewhere?

Does the freighter pilot have the ability to actively defend their own ship?

For the High Sec ganker, no, smaller targets are not easier to hit due to the possibility of the smaller ship being able to burn away or keep several ganker ships at bay with a long-range webber ship + scramble that would lock the ganker into being Concorded.
Targets that are slow and defenseless or the better targets that you are referring to.

Yes, of course.

Whoever said that ‘defence’ was solely about firing back ? Any such claim is just pure nonsense. Logistics, for example, are part of defence despite not having a single turret weapon. Adequate tank is an important part of defence…nobody would consider a ship with empty tank slots to be well defended. Sometimes things like faster align time form part of defence. Reducing signature radius also plays a part in defence. And of course, there is scouting and choosing the place and time of one’s route through Eve for any task. Those things are all part of ‘actively’ defending oneself.

Defence is something that ought to occur before anyone even undocks…and not at the last minute out in space.

They could also join a fleet, or just use some common sense.

Worth a read…

If you don’t agree, you might want to play a different game…

Thanks for the nostalgia trip, I miss when CCP actually used the forums to communicate with us players.
