I have to say, the Kisaki model is superior in absolutely every aspect. On the MD model, most details are only printed on, which also looks like if they used medium texture quality and lets everything look a bit washed out, while the K-Model has everything modelled out, using better paint (especially for the golden parts), and in general has much more detail, even more detail than the ingame model to be honest
But of course, this quality came at a price. When I purchased this 4 inch Kisaki model a few years ago on Fanfest, it was about 130-140 Dollars if I remember correctly. Not completely sure though as I haven´t actually worried about the price too much, and payed in the islandic currency ISK. The 5 inch MD-model on the other hand was “only” 50 Dollars
I would really wish that CCP would give us the option to buy those cheap models, AND the expensive high quality ones
So you would pay the 150 Dollars for the highquality 4 inch model? People were already complaining that the lower quality mixed Dimension model is too expensive for 50 dollars
If I were buying a model for purely ornamental purposes I would want it to do it’s job properly as an ornament. It has to look perfect. You get what you pay for, people who want to pay less could probably get it even cheaper than $50 if they did it themselves, but the’re unlikely to get a decent result.
I’m not so stupid to think more expensive is always better, but it is definitely true that you won’t get something higher quality for the same price. I would pay two hundred and fifty dollars for a high quality model of a ship I like. I understand why CCP don’t hold these things in stock or offer a huge range of models, I as anyone else will only probably want 1 or 2 of the ships.
Pretty sure pearl runs the profit model now, and the Koreans don’t quite understand the community and seem stuck on the f2p Korean mmorpg mindset that all westerners are filthy rich, and any pack should offer massive profits for then with minimal digital value. Having stuff with tangible value isn’t a thought, regardless it could be profitable.
Sort of the mindset that they want all the money vs good money and would prefer no money than some money, if they cant have all the money.
