Argument from authority fallacy…
Whatever goal you’ve set for yourself, you are working in the framework of a competitive game. If you don’t want to play within that framework, with the risks it entails, then you need to play another game.
One mode of competition is always violence in Eve. If you aren’t docked in an NPC station then you are vulnerable to attack. You are either gonna accept and adapt to that reality or you’re gonna have a bad time.
you need to learn to focus on the topic instead of trying to bait the poster - nice try though. Runa today we are talking about pvp in eve and whether that totally defines the game.
Good job on your ability to post internet links though. Bravo!
you need to shatter the framework. Build your own pens but Eve is more then just shooting full stop. The idea that Eve is pew pew frag frag is really attacking at the fabric of the game and threatens the true quality pvp we have enjoyed over the years.
Theres more to it then smashing club over head.
I highly doubt that. Maybe a couple hundred; giving you some benefit of doubt as your character has been around since 2005, but thousands? highly doubtful. even the larger corporations in goons recruiters would be reticent to say thousands.
Your biggest corp so far is a noobcorp.
You’re making a straw man argument.
We’re telling you that PvP is complex, broad and nuanced, and you’re bringing it back to mindless pew pew.
I’m not gonna slam my credentials down here. I’ve been a line member,a CEO and an alliance XO and I’ve had the experience and privliedge of being the commander of some of the best pilots this game has ever seen.
but those days are over now so they can have my stuff.
EVE is not, and will never be, a single player farming simulator, no matter how much you want it to be…
Again you are relying on word salad to get a point across. No one is saying that pvp in eve means 100% shooting each other. Market pvp is a very viable option. Have you never been to Jita or Dodixie? Jesus just look at Rupee Rue in Dodixie. No one runs the market there like that player. If you try to sell stuff there you have to compete with Rupee.
PVP comes in may forms; just like CCP says in their description of the game. There are many different ways to play the game. Remember, killing is just a means of communication.
Is the only form of PvP that is considered as PvP something like Fortnite battle royale?
If yes, then I guess you’re right, since EVE isn’t a space fortnite battle royale arena.
well, if you’re going to boast about the
Then you better be prepared to back it up, because you’re going to get called out on it, and I call ■■■■■■■■.
You’re still thinking on the individual level however.
Think about what completing eve would be.
you’re right. everyone’s goalposts are different. my endgame is a Revenant. kind of dumb now that supers have been nerfed into the ground, but I still want one for my lawn ornament achievement. i don’t really want an AT ship, but that’s someone’s goalpost, and another’s is “X trillions on zkill” and another’s is “x trillions in isk in my wallet” and the list goes on.
Rekindle seems to think that his is the only one though. because of the https://youtu.be/PFAkmkfcTfU?t=2 of his interviewees.
LOL
You really have no clue at all what you are talking about, do you? He asked you
“where you DON’T have to interact with other players”
And you said
“chatting with m8’s”
#MicDrop
Sorry man, you blew any shred of credibility out of the water with that silly response.
If you want to play single player farmville on facebook, be my guest. that is not what Eve is. It is not Pay2Win, it is not LoL, it is not WoW it’s not Everquest.
It’s Eve. There has never been a game like it, nor will there probably ever be again. It defies every single classification that people want to put it into. What it is; it’s something different to everyone. Your experience is 100% your experience. Mine is mine, @QuakeGod 's is his, @Daichi_Yamato has his.
I just read the originally sourced article… wow.
The cited article actually agrees that EVE IS a PVP game, what the author was emphasizing was that EVE is NOT ONLY a PVP game.
You used that to support your argument that EVE is not a PVP game. I’m impressed.
Eve heavily relies on PvP to generate demand, in order for the economy to work. Many of the items in eve are non-consumable, so there needs to exist other ways for them to leave the system. Interpret this reality however you want.
Looking at the responses in here, I can clearly see different definitions of PvP from the two camps. Again, just a pointless discussion where people are talking past each other.
Eve, in fact, is an RTS, a realtime strategy game with a huge economic management part.
This sentence actually make a lot of sense. Except it does NOT help your arguments at all. Playing an RTS online against other players is absolutely PvP. How exactly did you think that such a statement would help you proove that “EvE is not PvP”?
Yes, mining is at the core of all eve activity, and all looking down on miners is juvenile at best (Nothing wrong with that, people have a right to be juvenile, and should act this out in virtual space rather than in RL). And PvE, of course. Just take a look at the monthly economic report: Most of the ISK to buy ships, weapons, modules ingame is from bounties, peacefully farmed from helpless NPCs. By a huge margin.
Once again, the argument you use to proove that it is not PvP actually just proove the exact opposite.
BECAUSE mining and PvE are the main incomes to be used in PvP later on, they ARE strongly tied to the “Pew Pew” aspect of the game, which MAKES them PvP.
You gave the very good example of an RTS yourself. Ressources management is the key to victory in a PvP RTS game. It would be an absolut non-sense to pretend that how you manage your Ressources in an RTS battle is “not PvP”, and that the PvP only occur when your soldiers are facing eachother.
Just like it doesn’t make sense to consider that Ressources and ISK generation in EvE are not PvP. They are all part of the big PvP scheme of EvE. And because your management of incomes makes the difference in the long run when engaging in Combat PvP, they absolutely are PvP at their core.
You just fail to understand that PvP actually goes much further than the “Pew Pew” moment. The fact that the ships and weapons used in the Pew Pew comes from mining and ratting actually means that mining and ratting are part of the PvP. Not the opposite.
The cited article actually agrees that EVE IS a PVP game, what the author was emphasizing was that EVE is NOT ONLY a PVP game.
The article is too old and archived anyways.
And it wasn’t true in the first place.
And if it was true and not old it was worded wrong.
Is that how it’s done?

It’s so ■■■■■■■ old, that it got a Dinsdale comment on it.
