That was before they nerfed the market into the ground. High Sec and null sec have been nerfed. Ships get more expensive because materials require a lot more work to obtain. This means less ISK for industry and ratting and higher prices for new ships.
Multiple accounts with each one doing PI is the way to go now. If it wasn’t for the smaller rocks in null sec and WH (mercoxit) and way way less loot in salvage (have you seen the nerfs to scrap metal processing?), others may not need to focus so much around ISK. Back in the day, ice was eternal. You could find an ice belt and mine it all day and night.

Do you not know where that PLEX comes from? If someone PLEXes his account for the month or year, it’s only because someone else already handed CCP the cash in order to get that PLEX. PLEX doesn’t print itself. I put it there because I had $25 and was short on ISK.
CCP made their money.

Doesn’t matter. I payed CCP and the person who grinded paid me. I’m completely satisfied with that.
I wouldn’t say it makes ‘no’ difference. Subscription pays for the servers to be on whether I log in or not. Grind requires the servers to be on in the first place for that month’s PLEX. So one is in advance and the other is effectively in arrears.
Sorry to say this is and has been normal for decades. I started playing back in 2003-4 shortly after release and at that time the main “miner” for the corp was 1 person with 5 accounts devoted to gathering ores and market manipulation.

My second account is purely used for cyno and just use PI and skill farming to pay for its omega time. Edit:also does some Indy and market stuff if I need more slots for those.
