Why is my autopilot disabling randomly?

Was going to Hek’s tradehub station and left the ship on auto. Came back to the computer later to find it was sitting in space, didn’t even try to dock.

The chances of getting ganked like this increase greatly. Imagine you’re just sitting there for 1 hour and lose your ship, can’t wait for that to happen!

What’s up with this? It’s not the first time this year either, I thought I’m going crazy (this game is great at gaslighting me)

I had a similar issue where the ship often got stuck on a stargate with autopilot on. Switching from fullscreen-windowed to fullscreen fixed it, iirc.

This is like …. a server problem not a graphic problem xD

Did you by chance have waypoints defined and not a direct route from destination to target? If so, then do you have the “Disable Autopilot at Each Waypoint” checked?

This is a glitch that happens sometimes especially if you have a destination set before signing in (not sure if related to the destination being in the same system or not). If you clear all waypoints and set the destination again it should work afterwards. At least that is my personal experience if this is the same issue.

It seemed to be some sort of issue with alt+tabbing + auto-pilot + fullscreen(windowed) mode :person_shrugging:

idk but your first mistake is auto piloting, anywhere.

Have you tried using your keyboard?

Yes that sometimes happen. You end up sitting 0km from gate with autopilot on, but ship sitting there not jumping.

But so does often happen that ship is not jumping or not docking when flying manually so probably autopilot can run into same issue, although that issue seems to me much much common when not flying manually.

Anyway, I just love the players’ attitude that ignores the fact that the game is heavily bugged and moves the responsibilty on player instead… Is probably why is this game so bugged still after all these years. But at least one quality that no other MMO can compete with!

I honestly think the bugs add flavor to the game.

Especially autopiloting to a Hek station…let’s first get his autopilot problem fixed, then we focus on the followup thread where his ship got ganked due to autopiloting to Hek.

Which makes me think…a faster way to get this done is to use self-destruct instead of autopilot. Then you could already focus on the next task at hand…

a long time ago in a galaxy far far away a heavily accented voice said “eat za bugs!”

It could very well be autopilot systems error, have you tried navigating around Placid - Osmeden - DOTLAN :: EveMaps with it? But my bet is that is was Paragon interfering with systems it ought not again.

The most likely cause is that you were bumped away from the station or collided with something.

I was on the gate, didn’t even get to the station.
If I was bumped, that would have happened when the autopilot would have uncloaked to warp, so I don’t see how the warp failed by just getting bumped.

Would this problem be solved by plotting an auto pilot course but flying it manually?

Check your in game configuration and the security options like: jump into a EDENCOM system, jump into a Triglavian invaded system, jump into a low-sec system, jump into a system set as “avoid”. You can allow that by default when performed firstly or in the configuration window (last tab if I’m not mistaken).

Autopilot can be disabled if your destination is a system instead of a station, if your access to a citadel becomes restricted, if you’re at war with a faction, or if you have a weapon or aggression timer active, etc. Based on your screenshot, you’re in Minmatar space and your standings toward the Minmatar faction are very low. It’s not necessarily a bug — that’s just how the mechanic works.

I have a better question. Why are all of you still using autopilot?

Have fun!

Good point! Plot a course, fly it manually. Don’t go gate to gate in a dangerous sys, etc.

Thanks, good points. However all of those things were done a long time ago (accept to enter Trig, Edencom, etc). I’ve been doing this route on auto every few days for months. Recently 1 out of many, the autopilot stopped.

I’m super sure it’s a bug.

Guys feel free to stop asking me not to use autopilot.
It’s the only reason I still play.

It’s not hard to understand that not every one plays like you do, and doing 50 jumps manually to press the warp button and waste 1h+ is not a fun feature if you ask me.

Also any feature in a game should be bug free, if not, why keep it?

So thank you for complaining on a bug that I don’t actually play the game right (except ofc people that had legit reasons like the trig /edencom systems that stop you etc, thanks  ) It’s very toxic-eve community like, somehow I don’t feel included.
