I used to use a Noctis to salvage for friends. Unless things have changed, you can cloak up if anything suspicious shows up on D-Scan. It’s align time is effectively 0 because with all that tractor range you can almost always be aligned to something and still pull anything on the battlefield you want to salvage. There’s no reason why you’d have to be a stationary sitting duck like you’d have to be with an MTU setup.

Ive used a noctis to salvage L4 missions and large enough cargo to carry up to 5 MTUs and all loot from even the extravaganza missions. Never lost her.

That doesn’t mean his thread is about Noctis in ganks. He mentioned it as exemple, in passsing.
There is nothing in his OP about ganks.
His OP is about how useful is the ship, it’s cargo space, its price…
But if you want to talk about ganks, let’s do it.

Well difference between a noctis and a dessie aside from price and usefulness is bonuses and alphas cannot use a noctis

Again, stop being dumb. Anything can be ganked. The POINT is (and what you quoted and replied to) is that it’s not really an issue much. It’s very obvious you’re changing the subject to avoid your oopsie, perhaps sperg post a bit less.

I use a Noctis out of the Gulfonodi L4 Mission Hub.
I welcome gankers always and everywhere.
For me, the Noctis is hands-down the most useful mission-hoover in Highsec.

You can get praxis with enormous tank, with salvagers, its pretty good for alphas and it have some uses. But of course destroyer with mtu is a lot cheaper.
Oh yah Edencom used the noctis ALOT. It’s the only dedicated salvaging ship in EVE.
Noctis could be there only for tractoring, there is no other ship that can tractor like that.

I agree the Noctis is a complete waste of time. You can fit expanded cargo holders and get it up to 3000 m3…but…
You can also get a Praxis to 3000 m3 with expanded cargo holders…and have 83K EHP tank compared with the Noctis 10K…and if you fit 5 salvagers and 2 mega lasers you can have 400 DPS…and fit the Praxis to have a 9 second align time compared to the 15 seconds for the Noctis.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
With Exp Cargo IIs and T2 Cargo Rigs it has more room than you could ever need to loot/salvage any mission wrecks.
You only need a single midslot for a MWD. Not sure what you’d even use the 2nd for.
The tractor bonuses and the 8 HIGH SLOTS are unmatched. And if you are doing anything right, you’d use MTUs while running the sites and you show up with 8 salvagers with a Noctis. Scoop up everything, including MTUs, loot and salvage and still have a few thousand m3 left.
It is not a ‘hauler’ It is an INDUSTRIAL ship with a very specific purpose. Cleaning up wrecks.
