But that means your answer was off topic. You quoted someone talking about suicide ganking and provided a counter argument based on all ganking. Therefore, you were off-topic. There is not “but the whole thread is about” : you were NOT answering to the whole thread.
If you are in real safe space (NS deep blue) you can actually place several MTU while farming, then come back with the noctis and only salvage + drop the salvage on each site, and then come back with an indus to scoop everything and remove the BM. In that case you need the lows slot with scanning +hyper, mid a 10MN, and rigs hyperspatial.

OP is correct the Noctis does indeed suck.
The Noctis could certainly use a balance pass (cargo space, align time, etc.)
Wouldn’t do much good. The ship fundamentally sucks.
Well, it’s been rendered obsolete by MTUs to some extent (hence the balance pass).
To me, if it can’t hold in a fight or get away quickly enough then it’s useless, not worth an isk.
Make Salvaging Great Again.
I had read the title as Northern Coalition is awful
It doesn’t matter if it is to you or not, or to me or not. It’s useful for some people (like OP) in specific situations and in those situations it does exactly as advertised.
The Noctis is a pretty good PvP ship. Though to be fair, I think every ship in the game needs at least 3 mid slots to be able to fit a full range of tackle.
Then it doesn’t matter and it’s a great ship. All ships are useful in their niche.
The Noctis is the workhorse of the New Eden economy.
Sometimes a Noctis is sitting on Jita 4-4 grabbing blue loot from gankers and suspects who get popped around it, though I assume it isn’t really worth it as it is a rare occasion.
Noctis to me lost its purpose after the war on loot CCP had.
The noctis back in 2009/2010…would have been nice to have. you could need to clean out a dessis by dumping at a station and head back out for the larger level 4’s. And drone loot poop. I miss those rocks from drone missions.
Now? yeah…you can pick a level 4 clean in a dessie with room to spare for a second one. When I salvage I jsut line up a few missions to clean up as winding down thing for the night.
I had a Noctis once, didn’t like it. Sold it and replaced it with something much quicker and far prettier.

In my humble opinion, the Magnate is the best salvaging ship in Eve.
- 5% bonus to cycle time on Salvager modules = 7.5s instead of 10s per salvager cycle with Amarr Frigate V skill.
- only 3 Turrets/Salvagers = less micro-management
- under 4 seconds align time
- can use 3 drones
- cheap
- very easy to skill into
- over 1000m³ with 4x Expanded Cargohold II fitted
- fits into a Battleships Frigate Escape Bay. All you level 4 mission runners could carry one around if you wanted to.

less micro management means it’s bad at salvaging.
destroyer with 8 salvagers => 8 cycles every 10s so 0.8cycle/s
magnate with 3 salvagers => 3 cycles every 7.5 seconds so 0.4 cycle/s
Literally takes twice as long as a 8guns-destroyer to do the same job.
So according to you fitting a sole salvager on a titan is better because it’s even less micro management ?
A stacked dessie is also nice for the last wrecks as you can double/triple up the salvagers. Brute force the last couple of cans if one hasn’t gone full bore t2 rigs and such for max chance.
Causing tears from people who enjoy causing tears is always worth it.
