To start with: in a stupid destroyer you have to MWD to every wreck, which might take several seconds, even if its just to get in the tractors’ range; then you have to salvage the wreck, which will take a minimum of 10 seconds, multiplied by the times it actually fails to salvage.
Noctis literally warps in, locks everything, drags them to it, loots them and salvages them in 7.5 seconds each plus around 5 seconds per tractor distance.
In the end numbers, in a Cormorant you literally take over 30 seconds per wreck when the Noctis does it in less than 15, not to mention that the Noctis won’t need to move at all unless the wreck is over 96kms away, which would be over a 30 seconds travel on a Cormorant.
It is impossible to outrun a Noctis in looting plus salvage in the minimum time possible; to the point most of us gladly pay 10 times the value of a silly salvager dessie; You will literally save enough time salvaging in a Noctis vs a destroyer, than you will eventually make the isk difference shortly.
About the align and cargo, blah: You know the thing actually has fitting right? My salvage Noctis has an align of 12 seconds, its perma-MWD stable at 1.7kms speed, never runs out of cargo space unless I forgot to empty the cargo sometimes, without any cargo expanders. Doesn’t need any fitting implants to use nor weird rigs or mods.
I seriously believe most people here are talking about the Noctis simply because they know what it is and what is it used for, not actually how it works or what is like to fly one. Like seriously, if you never flown a Noctis please don’t come up like “20 seconds align time duh!”…
But can we all agree what a joke tractor beams are? They kind of worked around it by giving some ships role bonuses to their range but that means they are kind of useless on other ships. First thing i would do would make the tractor beam go to 100km and then adapt the role bonuses on ships accordingly. Let the tractor beams be tractor beams. They need long range by default. But who cares.
MTUs are also a bit of awkward since they have special rules applied to them in high sec. This is done to nerf them because they are not allowed to be useful. This is a pattern that is common in PVE / Industry content.

Its annoying when CCP introduces content but in such nerfed states just for the sake of nerfing.
