WHY IS THIS HERE WHEN IT IS USLESS TO ME!

Why is there a button to 'show players layouts as shown:

when it doesnt work, it just shows the same thing as when it is on, what is the point of that.

There is a possibility that there are no other player made command centers on the planet.
The function exists because some planets are heavily populated. And resources are drained and periodically move around. So you can turn this on and see where other players have their setups to avoid building next to them.

This only shows command centers if im right and not the whole setup. And that is why you might think its not working.

any of the planets my stuff is on dont show anything even when i know corpmates have them on the same planets

It is in fact possible to show other player’s setups with that button!

Once activated you see command centers, and if you click one you see the full setup (minus heads) of that command center.

The command centers however are hard to spot, especially on some settings.

And I suspect there’s some bug with it as well, but I never really figured out what it exactly is. Try activating that button, relog and then try activating again, that usually works for me.

Whenever I set up my planets I use that feature to avoid setting up extraction right next to my alts on the same planet.

I don’t care about other players, they could be not active at all, or may be pulling different resources.

I do however know my alts are pulling exactly the same resource my other characters are and are all active at the same time, so I want to spread them across the planet.

Also keep in mind ur command center can be anywhere. I usually put them on top or bottom of a planet where i know i wont buildanything.

thanks, ill try that

This is true, since a while.

I tend to have my command center next to my setup though, which was best practice when I started doing PI because the PI screen opens at that location so you immediately have your extractors visible too.

Still I like having my command centers next to my setup because this allows me to easily check the location of the setups of my alts so I can avoid pulling from the same spot.

For future reasons perhaps? :stuck_out_tongue:

what is that contract vanguards button???

does it mess with someone’s PI through eve vanguard or something???

…it’s just a mockup, sorry

it was meant to present a possible point of contact between EVE Online and the incoming EVE Vanguard shooter, in an area of Planetary Interaction.

Like, imagine one PI owner could, in some distant future, contract EVE Vanguard players to evict another PI owner, who notoriously depletes all resource nodes in no time

hey, even though it would be disruptive to me i would enjoy the link between games, maybe you would get to ‘steal’ some of the person’s resources but it would still be fun as long as there was a limit of like one contract against a person per month that way they could have time to fix it

on a serious note, here is one possible use for the feature you’ve asked about in the OP
https://forums.eveonline.com/t/corp-hangars-in-pocos/413772/5
i described as “PI factory sniffing”

Wasn’t that a thing with Dust 514?

No, the Orbital Bombardment wasn’t related to PI. It was for pilots who wanted to support dustbunnies in the battling of their teams.

Although DUST devs had an ambition for broader interaction, including PI. But PS3 was their limit.

EVE Vanguard devs, plus FC Rattati (ex DUST dev btw) and FC Burger, want the shooter to explore those posibilities in the future.

Yeah I know the orbital bombardment didn’t affect PI, but I thought the fights happened on planets in EvE and your PI on them could be trashed.

Maybe I hallucinated that bit tho.

Works perfectly fine for me. You hust have to spot the other command centers which is difficult. They don’t highlight in the same way as yours. You need to zoom in and click on them after you have activated the option.

And btw. are you screaming like this in capital letters everytime you don’t understand something in EVE at first glance? I wonder how you managed to learn scanning and wormholes? Did you already?

I mean what did you hope to really convey with “WHY IS THIS HERE WHEN IT IS USLESS TO ME!” and why was it not possible to just ask in a civilized way?

a wet dream perhaps  …that may come true one day …if EVE Vanguard survive its first year after v1.0 launch :crossed_fingers:
