Why keep these "mediocre mechanics that make the game frustrating"?

Hello,

I was killed without understanding how it happened.

I was supposed to sell my probing loot from the last 7 days.

So I got in my Prowler, my safest ship for this type of transport.

I left the WH, passed through Uedama without any problems in my Covert Ops.

And once at Jita, I ordered my invisible ship to dock.

I don’t understand how a player managed to kill me in front of the station, in system 0.9, with the fastest, invisible, and unscannable transport ship.

I’m extremely frustrated to lose my farm where I should be safest, having taken every possible precaution.

I don’t see why I should keep farming for 7 days, living in Wormhole, the most dangerous place, only to lose everything in High Security on Jita despite taking every possible precaution.

I don’t care about the amount of money I lose, I don’t care about the time lost. However, the way it’s done matters a lot. It’s unbearable that you’re not doing anything consistent to address this kind of frustration that makes people quit playing.

Furthermore, when I look at the pilot who kills me: he’s been playing for 10 years and has been getting nothing but kills in Jita since 2023. Why, after all those kills, do you still allow the player to go to High Security?

I’m not asking for piracy to be removed, but for consistency in how he’s allowed to go to High Security. The Caldari police should be constantly chasing him, and he should permanently lose access to the faction’s NPC stations.

And that an invisible transport ship doesn’t get killed at Jita’s dock because the station doesn’t dock it right away.

Why should you be safest in the most densely populated by far system in the game?

Anyway, try to learn from your mistake, and make an instant dock bookmark.

When you warp to a station you don’t dock right away; you land within x km. This de-cloaks your ship. As @Anna_Dyneaux pointed out, you want an insta-dock/undock bookmark that you can warp to (Google this for a set of instructions). When flying to Jita (make sure you have the station as your destination), you simply warp to the “dock” bookmark and click autopilot while in warp (not before - important!). This will auto-dock you instantly on landing.

It sounds like you did not take every possible precaution.

Read about how to make instadock and insta-undock bookmarks, and learn from your mistake.

Yeah, I’m pretty much thinking:

The devs will lose face if they fixed this.

Explain your precautions please?

If you just clicked on dock at station after you jumped into the system then there was no precaution.

There are at least 5 very basic methods you could have used to avoid this that do not involve an alt.

And 2-3 more that do involve an alt.

This could be bait.

So it’s “normal” that you can’t use the ship’s controls for a simple docking.
What era are we in?
This game takes place in a “futuristic” world, but you can’t even safely dock at the largest and most modern NPC station in High Security.

With, I remind you, an invisible transport ship.

New players who just joined for the FW update are going to have to figure this out.

I think that, for everyone’s sake, it would be good to change these mediocre mechanics.

Nothing to change. As far as how the player remains in hisec, security tags can be purchased to raise their sec status back to 0

I have never been shot in an invisible hauler. I never flew anything invisible. The only time I lost a load in high, happened in Uedama. It was some junk I was relocating closer to me. I really get the feeling you draw too much attention in cloaked ships.

I am not seeing this Prowler you lost in Jita on the list? However I did find 3 listed in Jita for today. All 3 have the Covert Ops Cloaking Device. It would seem someone in Jita was targeting this fit. I assume there was a scan done by a player a gate, they passed on the ship type and not the exact name. If you were one of those 3 ships, you probably were in the wrong ship, at the wrong place, and time.

They “clean” the character’s record with good deeds and raise their security status.

Mine Safe :pick:

More like “bribe” certain officials…

As a side note, the very fact that blockade runners cannot be cargo scanned automatically makes them a target. You could be carrying nothing, or you could be carrying billions. 50/50 chance either way so they are going to pop you just on principle…

Thanks, I didn’t know that information.

Think of it this way – jumping into system and then pressing dock button on destination station will be an automated process done by a computer for you. Auto-docking. And computers need safety margins and they also are slower.

Having an instadock bookmark, warping to that one and then pressing dock immediately upon landing (or the autopilot trick), is more akin to ‘manual piloting’ where the capsuleer controls the docking process more than the computer does. Although not quite an accurate analogy, it’s something like that.

And in game terms one is a low effort unskilled way to do it, the other is a high effort skilled player’s way of doing it. Of course the latter will be rewarded with better results and chances. Similarly to risk vs rewards.

You have been playing EVE for about 4 years now and still have not learned that “simple” always has a high chance to get you killed?

“Simple” means that anybody does it without thinking much. Gankers know the simple way. They are players. They specialize on the simple way. Because it gets them easy targets.

Bookmarks were already suggested to you. But you seemingly avoid discussing remedies?

There are just so many obvious ways to avoid it instead of doing it the “simple way”. Easy ones involve warping to 100km and check out who is lurking. Zkillboard can give indication of activity. Known gankers can be checked if in system. You could even sell your loot elsewhere than on 4-4. Perimeter has also good deals and often the range to 4-4. Or use another hub altogether if you can’t figure out how to stay alive in The Forge.

There are many more ways you could do in a single ship, but i guess you have to calm down first before you accept that they exploited your simple way of not thinking what you could do to prevent it.

So, we absolutely mustn’t change anything about the game? Everything is set in stone, nothing can be modified, nobody wants any improvements to the gameplay that would also help many new players and prevent a lot of frustration?

I think that never changing anything won’t help modernize EVE to appeal to new players and attract a younger community.

Are we remaining closed to change, to progress?

I know very well everything I’ve been told, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to change things that, I think, only discourage players from playing for another day.

Fly safe, especially in HS :upside_down_face:

Oh, we can change anything we like… just as long as it doesn’t affect null-sec.

You press jump and then dock at station. You get killed. It seems you didn’t like the outcome.
And of course you think the game has to change then and not you.

EVE is a game of learning. If something doesn’t work out for you or gives an unwanted result then why don’t you think or try another way to do it that has a better result?

In my opinion that is a basic quality that every long term EVE needs to have to succeed.

I mean what kept you from autopiloting through Uedama? The chances are very high that you did something like this in your first days in EVE. What did drive you not to do it anymore? And what keeps you from adapting the docking in Jita in a similar way?
