Why keep these "mediocre mechanics that make the game frustrating"?

It’s easy to develop bad habits. If something works (and works well), we’re often too lazy to change things up or go out of our way to see if something we’re doing is potentially risky. Until we die, that is.

It’s normal that you need to be within docking range for the docking process to initiate, and it’s normal to land up to a couple of kilometers outside of the docking range when warping directly to a structure. It’s normal to then need to slowboat the remainder of the way to the docking radius, and it’s normal for a ship to be able to lock and pop you while you are doing that.

And there it is. The same old tired argument. “Won’t somebody please think of the children!”

This is a harsh lesson to learn the hard way.
But eve is a harsh place to try and eek out a survival from.

Personally i learned to make insta-undocks from the ppl in my corp and so have avoided this issue (mostly) in the past.

Talk to your community and ask them if they have any you can copy, also find out if they have any advice on what ships they use to move things around.

Just like life, you have two options after suffering a setback like this:

  • Give up completely.
  • Push through it and take it as a learning experience.

Or become a ganker, lol.

i think this would be included in the “Push through it” option.

Can’t become a ganker if you quit, right?

Push through it implies sticking to the light, but sure - it could be embracing the dark side.

Push though it simply means not giving up.

In an eve-online sense that would mean not biomassing/unsubbing.

You need to make an insta dock book mark otherwise you’ll always land just short of the station.

No, you can. But if you do that in Jita then… oh, wait. You found out already.

2009, apparently. Because it’s been that way at least since I started playing, and probably before. Also since then, people have been giving noobs the same advice I gave you earlier. Sorry you didn’t get the memo.

Keep whining about it. I’m sure it’ll change. In the meantime, you could just deal with it.

The fact is, you fell victim to one of the classic blunders every EVE player has to learn the hard way:

  1. Never jump gate-to-gate in nullsec.
  2. Never just click Dock in a trade hub.
  3. Never get involved in a land war in Asia.

  1. Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

You’re a wormhole killer. Just Kill him back.

I just love when they chase me but can’t catch me.

Sounds like it is time to adjust your expectations of one of the most dangerous places in the game.

Wormholes may have few rules, but often are empty and are not what I am talking about.

Jita on the other hand is far more dangerous than you seem to think. It is one of the busiest places in New Eden and often has a few players who will kill you if you give them the chance.

A blockade runner is a decent precaution but is not enough on it’s own to guarantee survival in Jita. Checking the station from a distance, warping in from a different angle or warping directly into the docking radius are all additional precautions you could take.

Why keep these ‘mediocre mechanics that make the game frustrating’?

I would call those mechanics ‘interaction opportunities’ and frankly, the game needs more rather than less of them to be fun.

After all a PvPvE MMO is rather boring if players cannot fight each other, don’t you think?

You end up with EVE Echoes, where there is rampant botting, perpetual AFK, and sky-high inflation…

I was going to say EVE Frontier.

Frontier has no security at all though, it’s all null with no local. Echoes is the proper game that is more PVE/safety focused.

A very good point that every lazy player makes the mistake about. I used to have mine at the top of the sta, but it seems to have got more popular, so I moved to the arse end which fits my personality!

I like the monument whenever I don’t have a bookmark. It’s on the far end of the 4-4 station from the undocking part, is within docking range and can be warped to when on grid.

Pretty useful!

You don’t even want to know where my dock bookmark is… (suffice it to say, it’s really old).
