Wouldn’t “quarter” or even “epoch” be less confusing than saying “new quadrant” when referring to a new in game period of programming performance?
There was a discussion about this a year or so ago. I think the forum consensus is that the term would make sense to the MBA sort of people making PowerPoint presentations.

Quarter would imply equal updates.
If you know eve updates are never equal.
CCP always does 4 stage updates. And thus quadrant as it’s 4 updates of different time and amount.
I thought it was because it gave players four chances to rant and complain.
