Yep. And I am grateful for the pay to win option. It let me catch up to where I wanted to be.
I’m glad you’re happy with it!
Are you winning with it yet?
I realized that after your first answer.
Exactly that mindset is the issue.
Thankfully CCP understood it and begun adding more and faster SP sources already, but thats simply bandaid in the longer run. Breaking up the current system is just a matter of time, it’s inevitable, one way or another.
Reality is better than fiction.
The only reason I’m playing right now, is because I created this char 6 months ago and let it training, kinda forgot about it. Then someday I decided to play because I was bored.
If you think any 15y old will enjoy EVE while he waits 14 days to be able to proper fit his basic ship, you are in denial. Maybe someone with a job and family, with a lot of patience, ok that’s plausible.
Like, one thing is jumping into a Dreadnaught / Orca / T2 / etc, the other is basic stuff to fit a ship. If you don’t see the difference, no point even trying to argue. All in all, ask your newbie around in space, ask what he thinks. It may be a challenge to find one…
There is no way to win an MMO. But being happy with my choices and playing how i wish to play is as close as I can get to winning.
Slow is a matter of perception. Or as Einstein said, time is relative. For example, as we grow older time only seems to speed up, years will fly by, because we judge the passage of time by the amount we have already experienced. If we lived billion of years, a millennium would seem like a day to us.
A busy person will think time is moving rapid during their work day. They will ask, “Where did the time go?”. However when they reach the end of a busy work week, and reflect back on all the tasks they did, “That week lasted forever.”. The opposite will appear to the stagnate person making their day drag on long and boring. At the end of their week they did nothing, there is nothing memorable about their week. “Where did last week go? It flew by too fast.”.
This doesn’t mean I care much for the AFK training methods of this or other online games. I much more prefer some kind of experience leveling system, by which the player must perform tasks instead of just waiting for a time period to end. Interactive skill building is much more fun.
Have fun!
This is why your age group is not represented in this game. It’s not an instant gratification hub where you push a lever and get candy for your low effort. And if you think skill training is the only part of EVE that requires patience you’re in for a very nasty surprise.
I’m not sure you know my age, but considering the other dude was a teenager when a show I was not even born was on TV, I kinda understand you may know and yet I may be too young for your age. I also not gonna insult you intelligence, you know there’s no teenagers playing EVE right? If there are, they are probably less than 10% and I seriously doubt they would spent time here.
I prefer to believe you are really old, like war time old. Meaning our generations are different, that’s true.
@Princess_Rose_Ivory I was expecting your post, I was not expecting that content. The other thread you talked about the monetization and cloth buying and how you prefer buy to play, and now that the subject IS THE MONEY, CCP is taking half of my OMEGA time for basic crap, you just dropped basic banter… ![]()
If you think the Micro Auxiliary Power Core II isn’t worth training that skill for, you could try the meta version.
The base skill also gives all your ships 5% more capacitor, which is quite good.
I get tired of repeating what people already know about this and so many other online games. They like to keep you busy doing nothing at all. New players often arrive asking or complaining about jumping. Travel is just something that occupies your time. The game would not keep you busy as long without it. Without some form of travel between points, the game would seem less realistic.
Knowing this game was a off line skill trainer, when I arrived, I set my first character to do the basic skills for 30 days and left. I didn’t bother playing for that first month. Skill training in my other game, is AFK, but not off line. Many players on there set it up and allow the game to run muted in the background, while they train on attack dummies.
The Omega account allows you to train 2 times faster, or so I was told, but this is not the only benefit from being Omega. So I don’t understand how this is cutting into your Omega time.
Have fun!
That is not a true statement.
What has been proposed on this thread would eliminate the need for sp packs and buying plex to convert into isk to buy injectors that so many people do.
you earn skill points in a number of ways in the current eve. Many of these methods have been mentioned right above your own posts.
If you like the grind then it shouldn’t be a problem to grind out isk to keep buying injectors and cerebral accelerators. Of course, implants also help, and then you have remaps so you can learn chunks of similar skills a bit faster.
I am doing that grind myself. I didn’t start as early as many of the players in this discussion. While I do not feel like I need to catch up to anybody I do want to be able to fly certain ships and I am still also working on some science skills for production.
The point is, CCP has made many concessions for this topic and we’re at a point in the lifetime of this game that skillpoints have never been easier to get.
There are a lot of longtime players that did start this game and kept with it at that age. Those 15 year olds are now almost 40 and the very people that a couple of people in this thread feel like they need to catch up with.
The mindset that you have to catch up to anybody is the real issue. You’re in your own little competition with people that don’t even know you exist. Why?
This whole discussion can be broken down to just a few points.
Argument A: FOMO. The idea that you’re not able to compete and have to somehow catch up to and deserve to be on equal footing with people that have put years into this game stems entirely from FOMO.
Argument B: You’re being told that you don’t have to catch up to anybody. your FOMO is unwarranted in this game. Progression is horizontal, not vertical. There is no end game.
You can open up more options, but every fight is a gamble. There are so many options and there is no such thing as the best. A mega blinged out battleship can has and will continue to die to a few t1 destroyers.
Argument C: you can claim to speak for other people and champion for people that have yet to try this game, but this stems entirely from ego. The first fight anybody needs to win is against their own ego.
Stop it. Everyone is capable of speaking for themselves and this will not be the only time this discussion happens. Each and every time, it breaks down to these few points. Fomo / Reality / Champion for the downtrodden. Except there are no downtrodden in this video game.
FOMO doesn’t apply to everyone. It didn’t affect me. If I want something and decide that the training time would take longer than I feel it’s worth waiting for, I will speed up the process. If I want something and decide that the wait time is worth the wait, I’ll wait.
It’s really that simple.
Bobby having trillions of ISK and 8 copies of every single capital ship in the game doesn’t concern me. I’ll get there eventually. But if a certain ship catches my fancy, I’ll run it through the “want meter” and decide if it’s worth the training time.
Example:
Skiff: I wanted this. It wasn’t worth the training time so I sped up and got it quickly. Then I slowly worked on shield skills- then mining.
Orca: I barely sped this one up. It was well worth the training time.
Odysseus: Absolutely not worth it. It’s a beautiful ship, but there’s absolutely nothing I would use it for. Did not waste a single injector on that one.
That’s the only reason I took it. My point is, they made it burn a lot of time because they know the bonus is good, there’s no content to be unlocked. Even if I’m wrong here, I feel it’s shenanigans.
I realized my sarcasm is not so evident, I’ll use tags where applicable from now on.
The content you’re unlocking is being able to fit your ship better. That extra cap can be the difference between being neuted out or being able to double web your opponent.
Thank you for the compliment.
