I get that players hate the large semi-AFK mining fleets (that AFK Orca ice mining fleet was something else), and no one likes bots. But why the general animosity towards high-sec miners?
I also understand that griefing miners is “content”, but mining in high-sec is such a thankless and unprofitable activity. With the faster mining cycle times, small mining hold and small rocks - it’s evolved quite a bit since the press “F1” and watch Netflix days. You have to be fairly on top of it to keep a small fleet continuously mining now…
Do what you like to do. Whetever that is, mining, industry, solo PVP, ganking, griefing, scamming… If you enjoy it, that’s all that matters. Don’t let others tell you what’s ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, that’s meaningless. You define what’s ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ for you.
Is there a Nullec mining hate? Could it be the same hate, moving around in New Eden? Could it be a virus sent by the Jovians to weaken the alliances before a major invasion?
20 Miners in one HS system is catastrophic. 20 Gankers in one HS system can just Gank 1 big ship and it’s nearly impossible to gank a watchful player. Bot’s, afk’s and distracted/dumb players are the target
Hello Arthur, I just got back from my stay out in California. When I last played Eve Online, sometime back prior to the new Exordium Region, the claim was this would allow players to freely mine there. My question is what became of that grand plan? This forum was buzzing with all the gossip about how the new and impressive, ganker free zone would change the face of Eve. I assume the plan fell through?
I have to get some personal affairs in order, then I plan to make a new character, and scope out the area for myself. Maybe by this weekend I will have the time to investigate. I never tell new players to AFK mine with an Orca, that is something I cannot do myself. I am a low sec miner, you get the best stuff in low sec. It is all about risk versus reward.
However the short simple answer to your question is right there in posting number two. A lot of role-players like that want to be the black hat, Darth Vader, or Charles Manson. There are too few who arrive here wanting to be helpful. Miners are an easy target, no weapons, no defense, and a lot of ore in their cargo. If all the miners were scratched out of the game by FC, their focus would shift to the producers and haulers. They lack skill it takes to do real combat, so they attack miners.
Because Aiko and her squad believe that they are special to Fenris and that by blowing up ships in a mundane way, they want to believe that more miners they kill, the more real-world money is put into the game to quickly replace lost barges and the like.
The only people that have that animosity are the ones that dont fully understand the game. Their logic about what this game actually is and why people do what they do here is severely flawed…and has to be fully explained to them like a kindergartener.
This is sort of like claiming that lions hate wildebeest. Miners are simply facing the consequence of choosing to be wildebeest. Its as simple as that…doesn’t need a treatise on existential angst.
Because 25%(aka a minority) of the players think THEY know the only way to play eve ‘correctly’ and that EVERYBODY else has to be enlightend and has to BOW to their ‘superioryty’…
PVP has been pampered for so long they REALLY think that they are ‘the chosen ones’ and everybody that talks or acts against their approach is a heretic…
