This event is a lot of fun so far. The first few I did with a friend. We each brought in a T3 cruiser and did pretty well. We had to tag-team each target to bring them down quickly enough.
Then he had to go so I brought in a Vindicator and was able to solo it pretty well.
I first went in by myself with a Proteus and managed to tank all the damage. I destroyed one of the ones warp scrambling me. I distracted the other with drones (which I lost) and managed to escape.
I managed to complete 2 of the Wightstorm combat sites in a Loki but the third one landed me right on top of a group of web/scram/neut frigs along with a neuting BC I think it was. They killed my cap then my drones and finally my Loki. These sites are no joke, friends. I don’t know if they’re using the updated AI for the NPCs (I suspect they must be the way they go after drones and being Blood Raiders they neut like crazy) but definitely don’t go in without some proper research, prep and maybe a friend!
I’d love to take my marauder but I didn’t think they could get through the gate without some special “key” for this event. I’ll try a Machariel instead. Thanks for the tip!
I used guides that are several years old to refresh my memory of the content, so how can it be the worst event in years when it’s identical to every other Winter Nexus that’s been done for years?
Eve players gonna whine.
Clearly someone knows more than you about this event. If those keys did nothing, people wouldn’t be buying them on the market.
No you didn’t. You sold it before the market could determine its supply, so you got ripped off. At the end of the event, unless CCP announces BPOs for it, the supply will be cut off and prices will likely go up for them, like it does for all limited stuff they release.

When the Pioneer came out a month ago, I sold my 1st one for 1 bil. Do you think whoever bought it knew something I didn’t know, when during the next 4-5 hours the prices had plummeted to 100 mil and within the next day they were down to 10-20 mil?
Just because someone is willing to buy something for an inflated price doesn’t mean it’s worth it.
Of course I did. The prices will drop during the event, that is almost guaranteed. It happens every time. If I feel like I want a long time investment, I’ll buy a Perseverance back for less than I sold mine. And it’s not like I couldn’t farm more if the prices somehow miraculously go up during the event.
I also don’t expect this particular ship to go up in price that much, since it simply isn’t worth that much. It’s a VERY GOOD ship, sure, and an interesting design… but it’s still effectively worse than a T1 mining barge, so its ACTUAL value is ~40-50 mil at best.
Pioneer was a new release of a ship. Every time a new ship is released, the price starts high and goes down quickly as supply increases, until the price stabilizes based on cost of production.
The Perseverance is a Special Edition ship. There are no BPOs, and once the event is over the supply is fixed. Like any new ship, the price starts high and then dips as players complete the event and the BPCs are used up. Not long after this, however, a tipping point is reached. All available BPCs are gone and people are losing them. Supply steadily decreases and prices steadily increase.
Those keys open up more content for the event… Some keys give access to a special room in combat sites for large ships, other keys spawn an extra can in hacking sites and others give bonus rewards in Mining sites…
As for the Yoiul Lads, some are much tougher to catch than others and definitely can’t expect each one to drop loot, if so then it would flood the Market and crash prices…

Except that all of these “rewards” are not worth the price the keys are going for. For example, when a can holds an average of 2-3 mil in loot and you get a 2nd one of those, that’s not worth buying a ~20 mil key, now is it?

And I’m saying this is a dumb mechanic from a design standpoint, because nobody likes to do a meanial task for no reward. Plus, like I already explained, the keys don’t give a reward worth 20+ mil, so they are not worth buying at 20+ mil.
How is this such a difficult concept for people to understand?

You’re not very good at Eve, are you?
By your logic, the Sunesis and Metamorphosis should be worth like 2b right now. I mean they are special edition ships, are they not?
I literally do this for isk in EVE, bud. Try not to teach your dad new lessons.
