Hello, it seems EVE Online had walking in stations but was likely removed for economical reasons.
I wonder if SKINR will suffer a similar fate? There are regular updates of ~168mb and i suspect its the SKINR database that gets updated with newly sequenced skins due to there never being any patch notes.
So if that is the case, i did some calculations on bandwidth cost. And assuming it gets downloaded 30,000 times 2-3 times a week then the bandwidth bill could exceed revenue from SKINR which puts it in an awkward situation. Lets discuss or not.
In my personal opinion, SKINR was poorly implemented, and I wouldn’t miss it’s removal. There are far better things they could have spent development resources on.
If it’s given a transaction log feature that will improve it considerably. But I agree - if it had released with the features it now has (lower rendering costs, second pattern, etc.) I think it would’ve been more widely embraced.
Why pick SKINR as ‘equal’ to WiS out of hundreds of features of EVE?
What makes you think that SKINR, which was added on popular demand and had an entire engine made for SKINR alone to make extra money for CCP will go the same route as WiS, which was a tech demo that used the same mechanics as a game CCP was working on at the time?
That other game was canned, so it’s no wonder CCP didn’t want to spend more dev hours on keeping that engine up-to-date.
What makes you think SKINR is anything alike?

You don’t really want to know. Seriously, the whole thought process is so absurd, better not ask for details. There are things that make you dumber if you know them and this is definitely one of these…
Skinr is overall a good thing And i see no reason for to end up like WIS (taken out of the game that is)

But it would be nice if they fix the damn thing… Skinr thumbnails have been gone for 132 days now
oooh and paying to get around game mechanics is NEVER a good thing
I was around when CCP added WiS (it was fun times). And i was around when WiS was deleted.
But i’ve been away when SKINR appeared. Am i right that it is some kind of self-made skins? I’ve seen something about it in client but never really looked at.
And i see no reason for to end up like WIS 
(taken out of the game that is)
