Winter event rewards: What happens when you give every player a Titan

I’d like to touch on the topic of rewards in Winter Nexus. I think it’s no secret that they’re currently very low. For example, I earned about 15 kk for completing the event’s combat anomaly five times in highsec. I think you can earn more even on Project Discovery without even leaving the dock. Is there any reason why the developers don’t want to make the event rewards worthwhile? Let’s conduct a hypothetical experiment. Let’s say that for completing the entire event progress bar, each player receives a Titan. What will happen to EVE’s economy? In my opinion, nothing. OK, Titans will go down in price. That is, some group of players who produce Titans won’t be too happy. Not all players know how to pilot this ship, so the first instinct will be to sell it. But will there be many people willing to buy it at a high price? I don’t think so. Okay, so a lot of Titans of the same type will hit the market at a bargain price. Is that a good thing?I don’t think it’s all that bad. Perhaps some players will want to buy SP to learn how to pilot this ship. Perhaps we’ll see large-scale battles involving Titans. Some Titans will be destroyed, others will be put in the hangar for a long time. Manufacturers will switch to other ships. There won’t be a catastrophe; everything will return to normal. Thus, we’ve proven that the developers can confidently award every player a Titan as a Winter Nexus reward. Therefore, I don’t see any reason why the event rewards shouldn’t be more generous.

Don’t like the rewards, don’t do the event and continue with your normal Eve.

This seems to be a difficult concept for some people to grasp. It’s like they think they’re entitled to some great reward, beyond the product they’re buying, just for being a customer. They’re not happy with the quality of the free sh!t they’re getting, for some reason.

Events have become an integral part of any MMO, not just EVE. If events are announced, if people know about them, prepare for them, buy subscriptions, ships, and consumables, then they must live up to those promises. This isn’t charity or donations, it’s part of the game. And if the rewards don’t meet expectations, players have every right to express their dismay. Instead of creating a fun event that everyone would enjoy, they’ve created something dull, discouraging any desire to continue playing.

Players also have every right to point out the gross entitlement of others.

You pay a subscription for 30 days of access to the game. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything else CCP deems to add into the mix is a freebie. CCP could go back to the days of giving useless garbage during the winter event, when all we got were Fedos, snowballs, and NaCl.

Judging by the tone of this thread, CCP might have another batch of NaCl to hand out next event. Maybe they’ll give us some they when they actually finish the entire reward track for the last week.

Bet your partner is thrilled with your inability to cope with delayed gratification.

Why stop at a free Titan at the end?

Let the half-way rewards be a supercarrier and an AT ship of our choice.

OK, I get it. I’m talking about New Year’s magic and New Year’s madness, and you’re talking about a good dose of salt in the asses of the concentration camp residents. Well, that’s the way it goes. If CCP wants to shoot itself in the foot, let them prepare more salt for it.

Why not? I don’t see any reason not to. They’re just pixels, and a game should be fun.

It would be great if the event wasn’t just

  1. Be warped to a random spot
  2. Hope there’s the right kind of event for your ship
  3. Waste time flying around for 15 minutes since #2 was an utter failure.

This event sucks. Sorry but that’s the truth

This event is no different that most of the other events in Eve.

You can finish the current reward track in 2-3 days, so obviously the problem is not the event.

I wouldn’t say so. The previous event was very generous and everyone loved it. Yes, I’ve already finished the event bar and now I don’t know what to do. There’s no way to make money from this event. Sure, you could do your normal stuff, but then what’s the point of the event? I’d like it to be a celebration for everyone, not a dreary routine.

What’s fun about wasting 45 minutes of forced cooldown just to get to a field of ice that literally has 0ISK worthless nothing in it?

This event sucks

Yes, you’re right. The long cooldown and high concentration of players in dangerous sectors make the event challenging to complete, but worthless for the rewards.

Wow… so fun…. gee thanks

No they didn’t. There were multiple whine threads exactly like this one with the exact same gripes and moans.

And I replied in the exact same way.

LOL, the LADs drop the event loot that has NPC buy orders 1mil isk each. Learn to probe them down and shoot them for bounty and loot. LADs are worth 5-10mil each in highsec and more in lowsec. They take less than a minute each to find.

Thanks for the advice, but I did that too. Yes, you can get a few keys in a couple of hours (there was a lot of competition). The price of these keys is steadily falling, since they provide almost nothing.

Not the keys, the little green piece of loot that the price estimator says has zero value. There’s NPC buy orders in stations to buy each of those for 1 million isk.

The keys aren’t the only things of value.

As far as I remember, Yoiul Lads only dropped keys. The little green things dropped from scans, ice mining, and combat anomalies. They can be sold for around 950k in the trade hub. I don’t see the point in finding an NPC who buys them.

Events are a limited time experience meant to be an enjoyable break from the monotony of normal every day game play activity… Events provide an opportunity for players to engage in different types of game play content that they don’t usually engage with in their normal game play activities..

Also Events usually get players to interact more with other players, either by competing for sites or by forming small gang / fleet to quickly complete sites…

This Event lasts for over 30 days so if players are completing the Agency point spread within a 24 hour grind fest and then get burnt out from engaging in that content, well that’s on them…

Lastly, Events are not meant to make players become multi Trillionaires overnight… However players can definitely make a lot of isk if they continue running the sites up to the end of the Event..

I agree that the speed at which the event bar closes is up to each player. However, will the event be better if it closes slowly? The answer is absolutely not. Because it’s bad to begin with. This event doesn’t offer any unique content or challenges. Its purpose is to earn valuable rewards, nothing more.

A lot compared to what? For example, you can earn more in the abysses. Also, on agent missions. And on faction wars. I already wrote that even completing Project Discovery in the dock you can earn over 15 kk per hour.

Not sure what event you’re running but each site and challenge in the Winter Nexus Event is definitely unique and different compared to regular game content…

I don’t know who told you the purpose of the event is to earn valuable rewards and nothing more… Earning valuable rewards may be part of it but it’s certainly not the main purpose of the event…

I guess you must have missed this in my post:

How about posting my complete statement instead of just selective quoting a small section of it…

So about your question of ‘A lot compared to what?’ The answer would be compared to just quickly completing the Agency Event points within a 24 hour grind fest and then no longer engaging in Event content..

As for your examples, if you’re so concerned about playing the game only for maximum amount of ISK gained per hour, then why waste your time doing the event in the first place and more importantly, why waste your time complaining about the event here in the forums?
