That really has been the main point of this thread is the lack of research and effort.
I sure would and network with people to ask how PVE/PVP has changed. Many helpers in game would love to answer your questions.

Thats how loot drops work, even in level 4 missions there are a number of missions that can drop high value items, the same with faction spawns, again not a new thing

You know what. I do admire that OP has came back to at least provide extra thoughts. Most don’t. Usually leave in shame or dig their heads in the sand more.
The post wasn’t meant to flame and I do check it, but there’s just so much I can say about this.
The event is bad, and should be worked on little by little each year, small iteration to perfection. Not just dump it and leave. This is again the business dep. handle that assigns the hours and priority out of their ass and don’t communicate with the lead designers that might know how to make things fun for EVERYONE, not for the hardcore PVPers that loot stuff, or hardcore PVErs that know the wiki by heart.
Yah if I am pitching ideas to my boss/superiors I would not use titles such as this thread. Calling something the worse event in the game may not work with a lot of people… I mean… I hope you are not this divisive in RL Since you talk a lot about business and whatnot.
He probably plays factorio a lot.

Hate to break it to you, but EVE is a PVP-focused game.
Its called Google. You can literally spend 5 seconds bringing it up and reading what you need. No need to memorize anything.
It doesn’t matter, I looked it up, watched videos, etc. and still got scammed by a bad spawn. CCP clearly has a resource retention problem and one of their solutions is to do cheaty things like this and in abyssals to churn more ships.

There is no bad spawn for a good pilot with a proper fit.
scammed by an npc ? did he promise to double his drops if you didn’t shoot him first ?

Hmmm, it’s far more likely he’s on a timer. If you don’t kill the waves fast enough then he will be there with the rest. Same mechanic seen in other event sites over the years.

I just wish they’d update the event so newer players could be involved more. Something like a selection of sites with DED like restrictions, so a newer player might have a chance to run them in something like a cruiser or below.
I think just as much PvP could happen if there were sites that had sub-BS, and maybe T3C restrictions on them, and it might actually encourage newer players to have a try. When everyone is running around in marauders, T3Cs and battleshps, it pretty much excludes half of the event’s content from people that have been in the game under a couple of years.

Not all content is for “newer players” nor should it be.
Why not?
If everything is easy and can be done in a crap fit drake then what’s the point of improving and having better/cooler ships. The world, and EVE, doesn’t need more participation trophies.
Better loot?
I didn’t say it should be easy or it should be the same rewards.
